hydraulic handbrake? is it legal and any pics pls
If you have the PF with Martin's Escort on the front cover, then it has pictures of the conversion in all it's glory. All you have to do then, is imagine it enclosed by the console.
I have taken mine to two different MOT stations now, and they either chose to ignore it, or didn't spot it...

Ryan,
That's because it is - I only wish I had the WRC centre diff that releases the drive to the front wheels when you pull on the handbrake
! With it on, you certainly wouldn't be able to move the car

how rally cars and many many cars get through it is 3 options
1. Fit a second mechanical handbrake calliper.
2. drill a hole through each pads and link a simple cable wire to it and hook it up to the handbrake.
3. Have a friendly MOT technician.

So a hydrulic handbrake system running a another set of rear calipers on it's own circuit is ok..........??
no dan mate.
For it to pass and MOT 100% legally the handbrake has to be cable operated is some shape or form. Having hydrualic is fine, but you have to have a cable operated one for saftey.

I heard it doesn't have to be cable operated as long as it's mechanical - ie not hydraulic. rod operated etc would be fine (although why you'd want to i have no idea)
ditto richpon's question to mark though... ?

been through this with my fiesta, a scruitineer spotted i had no cables although it passed an MOT.
the law states you have to have a "direct mechanical way of locking 2 wheels on the car. (cables or rods)
ive got rount it by leaving the standard handbrake as cables and fitting a WRC lever for the hydraulic system.

If you only compete on single venue multi use rally's then there is no requirement for either tax or MOT. The roadworthyness of the vehicle is then down to either the individual or the scruitineer who checks it.
