what size is the tank? how much does it take to fill it up nornally from empty?

my m8 did this on his Transit put £20 of petrol into it,he filled the rest up £30 diesil and NO signs of the mishap,he drove it for the 1st 1/4 tank and refilled it done this twice and he was lucky no damage etc it's still going today and that was 4 yrs ago!

ps would be different if it was the other way though diesil into petrol cars IS empty tank etc

diesel is petrol make white smoke and not much else!

Diesel is a lubricating fuel... the high pressure fuel pump NEEDS the lubrication of diesel becuase it is design to run very small tollereances. With petrol there instead of diesel the pump will chew itself to bits and send swarf all round the fuel system.

If you run it till it stops you need:

New high pressure pump
New fuel lines
New fuel filter
New fuel tank

often new injectgors too!

what you think I dont know this

I remember diesil fitters USED to put a couple of gallons of petrol into the diesil fleet trucks/vans tanks during the winter periods to help stop the diesil freezing up and also said it would also clean the injectors!

well didnt get chance to see any replies this morning ,as i had to rush out to sort the fool out.
Toped it up with £40 worth of deisel, and he got to his job ok
However ,when he got back in the van at 2 ish it was not too willing to run on tickover and the lower revs ??after a little run it is ok,will keep topping it up
