Well, the time has come- 2 year itch has me leaving my job at Autoglass at the end of this month - last day is 22nd of July
A new place opened recently very locally to me - company called Sounds Musical ( www.soundsmusical.com ) and I popped in a month or so ago for a pair of drum sticks and ended up being asked to drop a CV in and was offered the job of sorting out and setting up the drum department and then to run it (the drum department, not the company lol) as manager
Anyone who knows me knows I love my drums just as much, if not more than my cars (been playing over 10yrs now, and will always be my first love), so I jumped at the chance to run my own "drum shop"
My first ever "proper" full time job fresh out of school at 16 was in a major drum shop in London SE1 for a couple of years, till it moved further down South London and I decided to go for something better paid
So this is my return to the music industry, and nice to go in and be able to "make it mine" so to speak
Money is okay - same basic as I am on now, but without the "commision" I currently get at Autoglass, so I'm gonna be a couple of £k down for the first 6mths - year, but if it all goes how I want it to and how they expect it to then that should be taken care of in a year or so and I'll be back up to what I am on now if not more in that time
So no more dodgy hour shifts, no more customers winging about broken glass and how their tax has been nicked, and no more cutting me fingers off
(did it again to day, somehow managed to slice open the end of me finger underneathe the nail - fuck me it hurts!!!)
Just thought I'd post about it, cos I'm actually pretty scared
Usually when I leave a job I have two excuses I use - 1) I don't like the job or the people I work with and 2) I have been offered more money...
Well in both cases neither are true here - I will miss the guys I work with dearly as I have made some true friends at Autoglass, and I do actually like my job (most of the time lol) This is probably the hardest descision I have had to make about changing jobs and took me a week to decided and several times after I handed my notice in I nearly went and retracted it
But I have decided to change the way I look at things, and instead of looking at life from one paycheck to the next as I have done for the last 7 or 8 years I have decided to look at life 2, 3, 4 years down the line - fuck I'm 23 and need a house

well done and good luck
i leave my current company on the same day
going to a better paid job but not sure if the prospects are as good but gonna risk it, will be about 30-40% pay increase so would be daft to turn it down i think
anyway hope it goes well

yeah got 2 of them mate
one i would consider as part time drummer (ie does it fitz and spurtz) and is competant but by no means an expert (used to play in a band with mate but were shite IMO) and my older bros is pretty good and played with a band for years gigging round the pubs
and he's pretty good. he's married now and plays purely as a diversion from the mundane things in life
Graham (scoob's bros) is really good by all accounts (session standard) and as you prolly know scoob's is pretty good on the guitar. aint heard him play in a while but he's been doing more bass stuff and it's really improved his lead play.
