Can you run any type of heat sheild with the way you have your wastegate mounted or are you just going to wish for the best?

Bill, the aim was "a little bit" over 560 BHP but with very quick spool-up (low lag)........The idea/spec was to build a really responsive engine with T4 power

You now need a sticker for the rear bumper stating "Running In - please pass....whilst you can!"

got my inj new from mike r and the first thing harvey said when he asked what inj i was using was to get them to him to flow test them, i think some have had probs. I used a pj manifold but had to modify for my wastegate cos of a different flange and did not like the mounting position. I could have modified a standard one and saved a fortune , but where the take off is it bares off from the manifold rather than at 90 deg so a bit better for flow.

at the end of the day its your own choice, one advantage of martins is you can have different flanges( he supplied my tial ones) they both work well, if we were all the same it would be wank

Doug,

Spoke to Brom today, and he said your engine was a bit of a monster!

Fair play - I'll happily take a ride out in the yellow car or the red car when I meet ya

Just to clarify Martin's wastegate design, it was developed on Harvey's engine dyno (which may be where there is the confusion) BY Martin. The first design didn't work, and with the wastegate fully removed from the pipe, it still made 2 bar of boost. All Harvey said was that Martin would have to change the design to get the gas flow to travel down the pipe (as it was bypassing it). Martin went away, redesigned it all by himself, came back and it worked perfectly. I know this, as I was there. You have to remember, this was all a bit of a dark art at the time. Although Martin's wastegate postition will need to be heat protected, it works properly and can control the boost . The reason why Martin often comments on others that might not work, is because his first design (that didn't work) is exactly how many others have built theirs. Now you all know the score, you can stop bitching .
