Pretty cool pic

Shame somebody has a shonky Impreza in the way of the Exige

Some of those Impreza's are very impressive on track. I was surprised at how good they were into/round/out of the corners. No problems on the straights but I had no chance through the corners. In th eright hands they are incredible

One of those cars I hate with a passion but you can't help but have respect for

The Norris designs Evo was the most impressive car of the day IMO, by christ didn't that fly!

Only motor I saw that managed to lap every other car on the session

sti was rapid, but didn't zoo's lotus throw the crank pulley?
it came flying out as he came in to quarry and rolled across the grass.

norris evo was doing 1m19's from my timing

Yep that scooby was on slicks, loooked pretty standard apart from that as it was rolling like a barrel in the corners, but fair play, I had to let him past as he had way more grip than me in the corners.

I don't think I said I let you past in the corners did I I said "he had way more grip than me in the corners" because of the slicks. I am certainly not so blinkered either to pretend I was faster than you in my stg1. Had I been running slicks it may have been a different story but I don't know what power you run so this is pure speculation and you don't know what suspension set up I run. Mine certainly rolls less than yours

Therefore I like to think that I have some track manners, not like some of the drivers that were there(not you) and pulled over for a faster car.

Rob Wiles is a good lad. His motor has a stage 1 remap by power engineering and a really decent wide power band. He drives it like he stole it too

Why anyone hates subaru's is beyond me. Affordable performance car. Rob's had his on tracks all over the shop including the nurburgring whilst most of the RS lot sit round grassy parks and look at how shiney their bonnet catches are....

EIL,

a decent STI with a re-map is gonna be very similar to how the Evo was. Nice wide power band loads of stability and grip and decent braking. Add to that slicks and u make a formidable track/ point to point weapon for hardly any mods. I've been in Rob's subaru and he trully does drive it like he is trying to brake it. Martin verifies this after being round the nurburgring in it!

I have respect for any quick car and/or somebody who can pedal well. Couldn't care who or what they are in.

Respecting a car and liking a car aren't the same. Different people like different cars. It would be a boring place if we all shared the same thoughts

Hats off to Rob as friends that were there have said he was hammering the car like a goodun

What about the 4.6 litre V8 MGB GT? That wasn't too slow either. Bet it surprises a few other newer cars on the road as it doesn't look that modified.

Yeah had a great battle with Rob. He got past me on the 2nd lap out as he breezed past on the straight, but I then really did have the bit between my teeth keeping up with him. I use Yoko A048 road legal track day tyres, but they are specially developed for the car, so are pretty good once they have warmed up.

I had Rob under braking and round some of the faster bends, but out of the chicanes and down the straights I had no chance.

Was good to have a chat afterwards Rob

All in al I had a bit of a nightmare day. First session I lost the clutch on the 2nd lap, wsn't to much of a problem as I don't use the clutch that much anyway once I am on track. When I got back to the paddock the very end of the hydraulic pipe had broken off inside the slave cylinder and I had lost all the fluid.

That was nothing a brake pipe flareing tool couldn't fix.

Next session out with Rob, we heard a clonk half way through the session, but we didn't really think anything of it. Carried on at full hammer for another half a dozen or so laps, drove off track all was well. I stopped to let the car in front of me pull into there parking space, then as I selected 1st the engine just died. I thought I had stalled, so turned the key and new straight away what had happened as the engine span over so much faster.

It seems the bolt holding the crank pulley on had come out and the pulley had fell off (the clonk) and then over the next half a dozen laps the belt worked its way off the pulleys. Mind you at least it did come off at idle type speed and not at 8,500RPM

I am working away for the next 2 weeks, but hopefully Martoon will sort it while I am away

New engine is on the anyway, but this one will be fixed and back out for National day!!

Sean..

With Oranoco

To be honest I found some of the golfs that were on track pretty handy too, and the 205 Gti was pretty good too

On track was pretty good etiquette.. and a lot of lapping had to be done. Hot day was'nt it... my poor brakes were boiling fluid.. No pedal... Pump pump pump to stop... Scarey!
