Default ABS Removal??

Why is it that my RST has had the ABS removed by the previous owner?? The pumps that run off the driveshafts are all still there but theres no brake pipes??

Will this be a problem with resale or should i jus take the pumps off the shafts n leave it without ABS??

Cheers

The RST 'ABS' system is a bit pants. It's not really true ABS, as that needs sensors on the all four wheels.

People remove it as this tends to make the brakes a little more predicatable.

I would remove the Modulators, then no-one should ask any questions.

Just cut the belts!

Just kidding mate, its quite hard to do you need to re-plumb part of the braking system as well as removing all the bumph that goes with it

There is a very in depth post on this a while back but as the serch button is currently not working it could be hard to find

I didn't bother taking the driveshafts out to remove mine on my old car...I just used a junior hacksaw / snips etc.... to cut them out

LOL. You DIY boys are animals!!

The switch that has been cable tied is that way to stop the warning light from coming on. You could unplug it, but then you must remove the bulb from the dash.

To those that have your ABS 'Half removed', I'm surprised that you haven't had MOT issues.

Mine was bypassed with the switch being jammed open, the belts were also slack.

Mine failed its MOT due to ABS light not working, so changed the relay to get the bulb working, did the job for a bit then the light started flickering on when driving & then stayed on permanently so took it to Ford garage who replaced the belts & switches at a cost of £163!
