Well I went past one the other day, was on the opposite side of the carrigeway but pointing towards on comign traffice, parked right up the curb on the verge! Bastids! So i assume they can get u on either side of it and from where the one I saw was parked you dont see it till you come round the bend on the carrageway I reckon they have a fairly big range, shame was not in my turbo so couldn't tell if the road angel could pick it up or not. Still, I think I was doing 65 odd in 60, heard nothing, plus, how do they flash you? I assumed it would be like a police with there gun and just clock you etc

I tend to live by "if you see them, its too late!" The range is normally very good but if its the opposite carriageway you could be OK.

HEy but don't forget speed cameras save 100 lives every year according to that report done by the "We Love Speed Camera's" Univeristy.

What fantastic stats. So out of the 3,000,000 motorists done for speeding and the £180m raised in revenue across 5000 odd sites they have saved 100 people. Can you see the powers that be investing this sort of money to catch 100 burglars, mugers or other vermine? If you flip the claims up the other way what the University is claiming is that if the camera's hadn't been up then 100 people would have died. How the fook can you claim that????

Have you already got points then? Most insurance company's don't worry about 3 points, I think they assumne most drivers have atleast 3 nower days

all depends on how lucky you were mate, fingers crossed that at the time you went by the operator was reaching for another donut

its interesting about the points think, a few years ago it was quite a stigma to have points on your licence... now so many people have got them its so devalued the process noone gives a fook

by the time you see them, its too late.

thats why they park places where you see them suddenly ie. round bends, dips etc.

Apologies but when I see a post about speed cameras I always end up spouting the law. Yes this gun exists and is being tested but no one is sure whether it will actually be introduced. You see, the evidence from a speed gun is secondary evidence of the allegation of speeding - that is what the law allows. The primary evidence is the opinion of the police constable who must see the vehicle and form the opinion that it is speeding, and only then can he use the speed gun to corroborate that opinion. So the question has to be, how the hell can plod tell if a vehicle a mile away from him is speeding?
