tappets are little longer, and poor quality. on STD head, they can work nicely for a while. i would not use them. ever. buy original types from burton or such. Golf ones are not so much cheaper.

if you have enough money to buy and drive cosworth, you should have money to use quality parts.

I need to make that my quote! LOL there is a reason I dont have one. LOL I will stick to the 2.0 OHC for the moment. Parts for the cosworth are even more $$$ for me because I pay in USA $$$$. not to mention everything has to be shipped.

then again this darn OHC is even getting expensive, and I havnt even got into the motor yet. LOL

its same for mee too. i have to order things too so i need to get those shipped too. but at least i use euros, so its a bit cheaper than you. but still i only use Ford orginal or better guality parts. price is high, but its absolutely worth it.

i have learned that what ever your building, it is expensive, if you do it properly. so thats why all of my money goes to my car, whitch is sadly damaged at the moment, but she will be in good condition again.

LOL.
where abouts are you in Europe?

Thanks to Nick on this site I am going to get my Scorpio up and running again. Only took me a year to get the motor built just to have the 4x4 die on it. Took me forever to get the motor built because I needed this part and then that part, and ohh that one is missing, and this one needs to be replaced. hopefully the 2.0 will be quicker.

what you run for a car?

i live in Finland. thats in northern europe. luckily i work in local ford dealership, so i can get even some rare parts easyer.

i try to check what parts do i need and then order all the same time. it saves lots of time and money, cause then you can have all parts in one shipment. i tear up the whole thing that i am workin on(like engine or rear axle for example), and then make list from the parts. but sometimes its hard to know what needs to be done, even if its all taken into pieces. hope you get that 2.0 OHC builded up faster.

i have 3DR Cosworth. its pretty standard for now, about 319bhp from the wheels. i need to put on Hestec engine management system, so i can have 8 injector system working nicely, and maybe i boost it little more. thinking about 2 bar(29psi).

here is topic about my crash

i have found all panels and pieces for my cossie, but one of them has not arrived yet. the boot floor panel is still in belgium.

Any1 tried the cossie tappet set's off ebay??? seem to average about Ł80 buy it now. Dont know of the quality, and cant really go by feedback rating cos tappets can wear out after a couple of months if shite and then its too late to leave neg feedback.

Any experience's with em from any1???

yes they do measure the same! Where is this 1.5mm supposed to be?

OE Ford ones are not made by Ford, neither are OE VW/Audi ones - they are both made and supplied by the SAME company - INA Bearings. There's nothing magic about them because it says Ford on the box, apart from the price
Side by Side you will not tell the difference, and they work just fine.
There is however a small detail internal change made between OE 2wd and 4x4 ones, purely to reduce the risk of oil draining out after periods of standing - but functionally they are identical. I have them in my 4x4 and they are just fine

Provided you use the INA manufactured VW ones you won't notice any difference. I have seen some dubious 3rd party aftermarket ones though..

in a lenght of the tappets inner tappet.

But little correction to last one. its 0.2mm longer, just checked that, sorry about error, i remembered wrong. and they weight more. and some have been sayed thet the working pressure in tappet is a little higher in cossies tappets, but i havent checked that.

0.2mm?? there was that much variation across the set of my Ford ones... 0.2mm is way less than the working extension of the tappet also, so has no real significance
Mine have been in and working for some time now with no problem at all, across a wide variety of conditions including track use..
If you feel happier paying twice as much for the ones in a Ford bag, then you are of course very welcome

well, on STD cylinderhead they may not have much matter, but if machined, there might be. and we are talking new parts, not used parts, when we measure tappets. and you have taken off the inner tappet to measure it right?

either way, i will pay what ever is nessessary to pay to get correct ones to my engine.
