Need urgent help lads with prob on RST with cossie management.

1. Car will cut out for what appears no reason, just dies on me...usually when slowing or stopping at a junction. Some times it has just died whilst driving along at low speed.

2. Car drives fine then go to accelerate and it missfires...running but no power, done this today, put clutch down and up...when done this car drove fine again...then started to cut out five mins later.

Any ideas?....pulley sensors?

Have you had anything changed lately that would of changed the positions of the trigger components and sensors? They need to be set with a 6 thou gap. The positions of the pickups should be set to the postion that the car was mapped with (16degree BTDC TOP) (@TDC Bottom)

It sound like the fault/error is to do with the sensors, have you checked the sensors for resitance? The top sensor should read 600-900 ohms.

Thats the car mate!

Sound like its sensors as thats what most people have thought.

Seems a random fault was fine for first couple hours driving.

What sensors do i need if need replacing?

think top bracket is flimsy which is causing probs

Yes mate your right the TOP SESNSOR BRACKET is a fault.

We offer you a better designed top sensor and bracket at a very good price. This item is laser cut from alloy or stainless steel, our components will never cause you any problems after it has been setup!

how much we talking for sensor and bracket?

Looked at gap today and adjusted sensor, was fine for while, didn't cut out but accelerating up a hill it did hesitate for a second.

Just like a split second loss of all power.

Seems to mainly cause intermitting fault when car is geting warmer!

Jano_OddKidd,
They need to be set with a 6 thou gap.
You may want to revise that mate.

However when you set it to that the lug hits sensor!!!

could it be plugs causing hesitance and misfire?

Chnaged plugs today and found that old ones were 3 of kp8's and one ngk!

Seems bit better but done 84 miles and it stalled once at junction and sort of lost power till i dipped the clutch and it was fine again.

Also used full tank of fuel in 160miles of fast driving

Ravi did the conversion himself, had all the engine / machine work done by a place in dagenham but had no probs and it used to run sweet!

Yes, Ravi is my mate, but if you read his feature, i was too busy to help him! The only thing i did for that car was the breatheron the passenger inner wing, it came off my escort when i made a more bling version!

Hi mate,
I made another one the same but mad eit from stainless and had a proper tap in the bottom to drain it out
i made it that shape because i had a GRS header tank which was that shape so it was mirror image!
I'd say you need to speak to bailey really for your mirror image one!
