1.6 Bored to 1.9 Carb to Turbo Conversion.
I have a E reg S2 Escort RS Turbo Cabbie. The escort engine has been fooked as when it was rebuilt it wouldnt run under load and misfired after tickover. I had a mobile RS engineer come look at it too set up fueling and confirmed my timing marks but still no power. After getting rather fooked off, I needed the car moved and I got a 1.6 carb escort engine which was bored out to 1.9 and whacked that in.
After more problems and expense my cabbie is finally running.
I have looked at the turbo engine and I have found that when i turn the camshaft over the valves are not moving very much and I have been wondering if this may have been my problem all along.
As I have the 1.9 I want to turbo that. It is not a low compression block so will i have to fit a compression plate to lower the compression or can I just bolt the turbo and the MFI injection system to it then have the fuelling set up again to match the 1.9.
Please people please cant you see I need lots of help.
Please help me I just want a f**king turbo that runs.

there is alot more involved than just bolt things to it as for the compression plate it wont work it is the pistons that need to be replaced for low compression if you do turbo the 1900 block it wont last very long from expierence and from the experts information talk to the guys at newark engines and they will point you in the right direction if not the best rought to take
there are a lot of things that could be wrong with the original turbo engine.. not just the actual engine itrself wiring etc is also an issue.. (esp if its in a cab!
)
as for the 1.9 engine.. i wouldnt turbo that.. the bore walls are super thin on them and turboing it is asking for troubble.. also just using a de-comp plate is a crap way of doing it (says me who used to run one!
)
if i was you i would find out what exactly was wrong with the original turbo engine and fix that.. or just buy a new one that you know works!
