Default Insurance question

Ok, what companies are you using to insure your cars.

Tried to see if Tescos will swap policys from the Cossie to a Mk 2 RS2000.

They will but because the car is over 25 years old they will only insure tpft. Im insured fully comp on the Cossie for 1859 quid a year, thats for a 360 bhp car. A RS2000 with a 25-30% power increase tpft and they want 1700 quid

Just wondered if I will get it cheaper on a classic policy and where to go for it???????

I did my mk1 Mexico lookalike through Adrian Flux.

They do classic & modified insurance, with all mods declared (Cage, lowered etc) I was quoted Ł420 tpft on it & I'm 24 with 5 years ncb

Pick up a copy of Classic Ford when it next comes out (November 21st) & have a look in the adverts

Alternatively have a look on Ebay

I've just bought a MK2 RS2000. Fully comp insurance from Footman James on a classic limited mileage policy (1500 miles) is 126 quid . I'm 34 with NO no claims (used on my main car).

Cheers,

Steve.

If its an RS then I would say Dominion everytime. I have been with them years now and for lots of cars and can recommend the service from them!! They do have age restrictions and you need RSOC memebersip tho??

Alternativly I can also highly reccomend HIC. They specialise in modded cars and cover all Escorts on Classic Policies fopr Full Comp no probs.

Ł1800 for a Cossie!! That is just crazy!! I pay Ł360 for my 500!!!

CheeRS
Dave...

PS> Blackgoo, that looks like my mate Nicks car on your sig. Is there something he is not telling me??

ha u guys are all lucky, i was lookin at 2 to 3 grand for tpft on my 65 mk1 'tina. only a 1300!! its not road worthy yet tho so wil try sort it. me dads with footman james, 105e anglia, 1640cc costs him like 300 pa. know what you could do tho, norwich union do this thing where for a little extra cash you can drive any car with the owners permision and be covered to tpft!! so get insured on a 1.1 bonus or sumit, then once youve got permission from urself or whomever owns the vehicle, go drive it. thats what i did so i can drive me dads 105e. pretty sweet.

mk1 escort boy, if you want your dream to come true, make sure its standard and you drive it like a girl. otherwise your going to be in for a shock.

i ran a highly modded Mk1 Escort 1300GT as an every day car. i loved every minute of owning it, and miss it big time now (only gone a few months back). i built it to drive it hard, and in doing so, every part of the running gear got replaced as it broke. the fucker spent more time on the drive than on the road. i'd get another one, but only as a second car.

i was paying about Ł400 with liverpool victoria under my old man with 6 years NCB, that was with no mods declared. i'm 18.
