Default Got a phonecall from someones solicitor today......

They left a message on my answering machine asking me to call them, but i'm offshore on nightshift so i didn't manage to contact them yet, is this common practice??? I haven't knowingly done anything dodgy that i can remember....

If its someone elses solicitor calling you if they are taking legal action againt yourself/business/etc etc then i would say its VERY bad practice to be callining you. I've always received letters....even my own solicitor who works for ME doesn't call me unless its absolutely urgent, its always done by post.

Another thing i find a bit strange is the fact that they have your telephone number! I mean they arn't exactly easy to pin point to an individual, not like an address which is piss easy.

Call them up when you get back, if someone is taking you to the cleaners then tell them they have no business calling you, and if they want to contact you it has to be sent by post and that you will deal with it in your own time.

Agree with above would be bad practice just calling you up on the phone, similar happened to me a few years ago but it was a letter asking me to send £850.00+ to cover damages caused by my car which had been involved in a crash in Canterbury.Luckily i had proof that i'd scrapped it 3 months earlier although it showed up as still registered to me,phoned DVLA and had a bit of a rant saying i'd sent document etc never heard anymore

Hope yours is nothing serious
