800kg = 0.88 of a ton (i think!)

250/ .88 = 284bhp per ton

BHP divided by kg x 1000 to give you BHP per Tonne

250 / 800 x 1000 = 312.5bhp per ton

Metric tonne = 1000kg
UK ("long") ton = 1016kg
US ("short") ton = 907kg

Don't get them confused
