I have got a S2 ERST with no running gear. I deally I want to buy everything complete, turbo, gearbox engine, metering unit etc.

I have seen one advertised with a diesel conversion gearbox - are these any good?

Does anyone know anywhere else other than pf and ebay that I can look for a good engine? Havent seen any at the moment!

diesel gearbox has different ratio's and thats it. no lsd and no stronger. bigger bearings perhaps but nothing major. better with the correct box. imo

 

Diesel box is tougher and directly takes the S2's LSD only if it's from a mk5/mk6 Escort 1.8 diesel. As said, the mk4 Escort diesel box is no tougher than a mk4 1.3 Escort box.

 

use a mk6 diesel box, bigger bearings, i having mine converted next week, rst ratio 1,2,3,4 with diesel 5th gear

 

Thanks for your help, the box im getting is s2 box, with diesel 2nd + 5th gears, rebuilt with new bearings.
