so now i gotta apply for a new log bookas the old one is not vaild anymore

but why as theres not expiry date on it

or is just in the case of selling the car

i know the new log book states you have to sorn or you get a fine and the old log book dont hence why i prefer it

anyone else know about this as i own 7 cars and aint got a clue where all the log books arem tbh i dont even car untill there on the road

just send in any old log books with a covering note and they will send you a new one.

Any cars without log books you'll have to pay up.

From DVLA website:

"You only need to make a SORN for a vehicle that had a licence in force on or after 31 January 1998."

So you can have new V5 and not need Sorn.

And also:
"Vehicle keepers who have not received the new certificate and do not need to tax their vehicle, or make a SORN, by June 2005 and want one can do so by returning their V5 registration document to DVLA Swansea SA99 1BA with an accompanying letter.

From 1 July 2005 all existing V5 registration documents will no longer be valid. This will not affect entitlement to registration marks. Motorists who have a valid claim on a vehicle and its registration mark will not be disadvantaged. The V765 scheme which enables old vehicles to be re-united with their original registration marks, will be unaffected by these changes."

 

IIRC, the note that comes with the new one tells you to destroy the old one.

sorry rhys im not moaning but every time i see a helpful government letter or advert about a car i end up paying money

ive just payed 20 quid for a licence, 7 quid for a tax disc, 30 quid for my fooking policy, 15 quid for a copy of my mot and i cant remember what i payed for me log book too and i lost em all as i tax the car as i walked the 2 fooking miles to the post office as its on a redroute and no where to park unless loading/unloading and on the walk home they fell out me pocket

a few days later i get a letter telling me that my area is going full CPZ and i am fortunate, yes they fooking said fortunate to buy 2 fooking res permits to park my cars where they are parked now for 95 quid each a year though this DONT GURANTEE i get a space to park anyway

then the ad with dvla saying all log books aint valid after 1st of july too

yes i am a bit sore about it and im sorry

if i dont loose the rights to the car i will send em off when i find em

infact i think ill send all the log books of cars ive scrapped just to add abit more cars to the list

i got a cossie as a toy, h plate efi cabrio as a run about, got a tennis cabrio as a project, got a orion that i got me personal plate on it and needs rebuilding to swop the plates over as dvla want a full car even though i own it
i got another escort cabrio that i had from about 4 years ago that im gradually stripping, got a 1300 escort i used to own for insurance purposes and i own a volvo i used to have as a car for "special deliverys" from liverpool

i need shot of em but there all off the road ( except the orion.hplate cabrio and cossie) i cant be arsed to sell em and cant be arsed to break em as there not doing any harm where they are

hence why i cajnt be arsed to loom for log books and sorn em once a year
