I am connecting up my oil breather kit and i'm putting the oil return line into the sump, my question is, where is the best location on the sump to fit the return line above/below oil level etc front/back of sump?

if its a 4x4 cos sunmp, you use the existing oil return pipe, if its any other, you will need to either drill and te teh sum or have a nipple brasied into it if its atin sump, like a rst etc, ideally below the oil level adn the back edge, so that gasses cant blow up it when accelerating, if that makes sense...

 

yes its a 2wd sump and that makes perfect sense, i wasn't sure about returning under the oil level in case possible aeration problems of the oil. but I then wondered about it blowing up(not literally, i mean back up the line), so I know where to drill/ tap now, thanks very much for the quick reply

 

there is a bolt in the block just above the sump just undo that and put a bolt with tube on it which bailey supply and it goes there

 

are you thinking of the one that is on the turbo side and is a breather port..?

 

Bailey still thinks it's oil return :-/

By the way I have it connected as they tell you too and I dont see any problems with it. Blue smoke and blowing various gasktes and seals gone.

the block is designed to breather from both sides

 

No way is easy. At least for me. But it may be. Anyway it does work.

I feel pretty confident it is. I was also told that small turbo block breathes much better - thus no need for cam cover breather and no need for second breather on turbo side with reasonable powers.
