I think i may treat myself to a toolbox & tools!!!
...as i tryed to get the radiator out the other week and realsied i had the following....
One rachet set....(with no ratchet or sockets)
2 out of 8 allen keys
One screwdriver that i put on angle grinder several months ago as i could'nt find a smaller one
several spanners but with some odd 'hylagriphics' (spel) on them and they don't seem to fit ANYTHING thats on the car...
one oil filter chain (no handle)
and an old MkII astra petrol pump...(which i have kept 'just in case')
oh, and a mallet which isn't rubber, its leather!!! which has seemed to have been the tool of coice for 95% of the jobs I have done on the car so far
soooooo....i think its about time i got myself some new ones....wheres the best place to buy a half decent set and how much?!?!?!

what price ya looking at spending and what tool ya think ya need
cowbpi got a pukka tool cabinet and tools for a good price but thats got everything ya may need ( well ive never been short of a tool at his house YET !!!
but if ya want a relativly wimple kit of screwdrivers, sockets and spanners then i can get a a seperate list that ya will perfer and wont be alot of cash for a rich fooker like you
what ya gonna need is 8 to 19 sockets, 8 to 19 deep sockets, a set of extension bars and wobble bars, torx sockets and allen key sockets, full screwdriver set, 6 to 24 spanner set, 8, 10, 13,17,19 rachet spanners, needle nose pliers (for all the screws ect ya loose and cant ge4t ya fingers in
), sharp knife, cable ties ( trust me ive never seen a car that dont have something cable tied and a 8 to 19 impact socket set for all the siezed bolts/nuts, pry bars, again needed, rubber mallet ( the leather one is still a good one too btw) , pucnh and chisel set and a sparkplug socket
thats just a basic nit i find i need, ive also got a load more but them i find good as a starter set
PS, dump all them imperial tools ya got and only used em when ya round of sockets

my draper kit has sorted me out. that combined with all my dads old stuff he left when he moved out!
imperial sockets are always handy.
espicially the 1/2 inch as not all 13mm bolts are a perfect 13. often the 1/2 inch fits and avoids the chance of rounding it off.
britool make the best spanners i rekon. but thats coz i work with engineers who are 60 and have had 1 set of britool spanners all their working life and they still look perfect condition. and that aint coz i work with a lazy bunch of fookers (even though i do) its coz britool make quality gear.
as long as it dont say made in china on it your ok.
english stuff is the best, and german aint half bad either.
the draper expert rnage is good though. i got a set of alen keys and torx bits for not a lot of money which is really handy as it has stumpy bits and long reach ones.
12 sided sockets are often better as well. rather than the 6 sides ones. but that down to preference. i find that if u need to wack a smaller socket on a dodgy nut then 12 sided is best.
thats y i never throw away old tools as u never know when u will need them
