Default who got the new pro ally i/c !!!! for the s2 rst

well i fitted mine up today and having trouble with it big time never had any trouble with the old pro alloy with the fans on the cooler water temps r mad start the car from cold fans cut in half way and then stop like they should but the sec i drive the car fans stay on all the time and temp does not come down from hot i have not fitted the top mount as i think it will stop the flow to rad !!! and my car was running fine on the old pro set up.I have not change a thing from the old set up bar a new turbo.had a new core on rad only last year water pipes r fine and thomosat is fine here r some pics now and what it looks like with a std 90 spec on it

I went for a charge cooler, i thought about the front mount but wanted to keep my bay looking as standardish as possible. Might try and mod a 2wd cooler in there as well, but am worried about flow

try some of that water wetter in your coolant, u also have a 82 degree thermostat?

mine runs very cool but i have a GRS though, when i first installed it mine run too hot and my wires were the wrong way

i have twin 10" kenlowes, cant remember which way mine spins though,

do u have to run that shield thing on the side of the i/c? that must be stopping air getting through surely

Check if the fans blow through the rad towards the engine bay. If they suck, they won't do shit all when the car is moving.

This is why I've kept the chargecooler and it suits the car extremely well, Alex, does it make any difference with your cut out bumper as apposed to the standard '90 spec one ?

The fans do NOTHING once u are upto speed. The thing to do is to work out when it's running hot. Get on the motorway, stay at 70 for a few mins, and see what happens. If it stays cool, then the rad and cooler are fine - it's a problem with the fans. If it is STILL running hot, then u have more serious problems - maybe a headgasket.

Also, the slope seems to have gone on the new cooler - thats bad as it promoted even airflow through the cooler.

Alex- as discussed you need to check the air flow direction of those fans....
sounds like they are sucking the hot air from the rad and turbo and blowing it forward in the car straight on to the intercooler...

Rick, if the fans are running the wrong way they will stall the air when up to speed... These are the symptops that alex has described to me...
also he said the intercooler was so hot he could not touch it.. that will be the hot air being sucked from the rad....
on the note of the end tanks now being square... testing on the flow bench showed an almost indistinguishable difference between the sloping and square design....
customers were asking for square tanks with a parallel look......

Rick
I remember back in the days someone posting that above 40mph, the fans became useless and the natural airflow was taking over.

may require overnight camping on the hard shoulder to ensure a cold start

Sorry Rick, I put it up as a statement, not necessarily in the context of being relevant to this topic i.e I read your first sentence and my fingers were away typing
