Default Rattling & Clicking = ABS light on ??????

Hi,

This morning when I started up the car I noticed a loudish rattling & clocking noise from behind the dash somewhere, I just assumed it was plastic vibrating or something ! I then noticed the ABS light was flickering as well at the same time , the noise then stopped and ever since then the ABS light has stayed on, anyone know what it could be, relay etc.. Car is a series 2 erst by the way.

cheers, Duncan

All the ABS light tells you on a S2 rst is that the ABS belt has brocken

if its rattling its probably a loose modulator. they are on the other end of the abs belt.

Im pretty sure the rattling & clicking sound was coming from behind the dash, the light was flickering as well and then when the noise stopped the light stayed on

could an electrical fault somewhere behind the dash cause the light to flicker and then stay on constantly, if so what

The exact same thing happened to mine mate. I know that noise you mean, i was blasting down the motor way when my ABS light started to flicker, i shit my pants, thinking that the belts had snapped However after a close look the belts were fine. I have always assumed that it must be one of the switches which plug into the belt cases which were faulty. I plan on replacing both switches, don't think the switch assembly costs that much either from ford, worth doing if the ABS light is doing ya nut in.

Whip the sensors out and zippie the switches closed. Job jobbed

If the belt is slightly loose it can do this. Undo the bolts with a 13mm socket and rotate the modulator to increase the tension on the belt. Don't make the belt too tight
