Default 4x4 cossie wont idle from cold?

The engine when started from cold used to rev up to 1500rpm until warm then settle at normal idle, now it wont idle at all when cold and starts missing and stalling below 1500rpm.
Ive noticed a few times when fully warm the revs can sometimes rise to 2k for a few seconds and then drop again.

Any ideas welcome?

i had/have the same problem mate, put it in the garage and they reckoned the idle control valve was the problem, so changed that and that seem to help, but it seems to be back to its old tricks again, so id welcome any ideas to?

Idle Control valve is the problem, in allmost all cases. problem is that even if you clean it, it will be stuck again in a short time, because when you lubricate the idle valves piston, the lubricant will swear off from piston, so you need to do it again.

you can use diffirent types of lubricants in there, but all of them will last only short time. atleast i havent found one, that lasts long time. only way you can have it working for a long time, is to coat it whit somekind of teflon type coating.

i advise normink to re-clean the valve, and if it runs fine for some time again, you need to try diffirent lubricant for piston. i prefer thin and hi infiltration lubricant, so it lasts for longer. next i will take the idle valves piston to be coated whit teflon type paint, so that should last longer.

Throttle position sensor could do similar affects, but not in iddle, i think. atleast i havent heard that TPS could affect on idle, when adjusted correctly.

Nope, Wim means the Phase sensor under the rotor arm in the Distributor cap

aah. now i know what you mean. i know it by diffirent name, but now i remember that i have heard that phase sensor too. well, you live and learn.

i doubt that its that, but its surtainly worth of checking.

first check the sensor itself that it isnt damaged at any way, then clean it, if dirdy.
clearance of phase sensor to cam, is 0.2-0.3mm.
resistanse between 23 pin and 5 on ECU multiplug is 700Ohms to 1.2kOhms. if that is not correct, you need to check wiring of phase sensor to ecu.
