James, on the ser 1 the the turbo is only oil cooled. This was a change with the ser 2 where ford decided to put one pipe from the turbo into the side of the rad...Some upgrade alloy rads dont even have the turbo cooler hose connection. I actually got a bolt, silicone and steel hose clip to block my off. My turbo is running fine and I know one other lad from the rs club who's is the same and he has had no problems yet!!

the turbo has a water feed and water outlet (one on the top and one on the bottom)
as with the oil feed and return..

don't really see the point tho, if u imagine a glowing red hot turbo then add water, it would surely just vapourise it!!!

don't think the s1 had a water cooled turbo.

so theres just one outlet from the rad to the turbo then?! was just gunna use a bolt and hose clip!

s1 turbos run without water cooling...and they seem to be fine!

cheers for the info will get onto that job tomorrow!

if it can be done with one hand!

You're mad lol. An S1 turbo has larger oil ways to cope with the lack of water to cool it down. S2 turbo'es and most other Ford turbo'es are water and oil cooled. You will knacker your turbo if you block up the water feeds.

The water going into the turbo will not vapourise, if it did then you would run out of water very very quickly lol.

Why do you want to block the feeds up anyway?

If that's the case then the turbo should have large oil ways to cope

I've disconnected the water cooling from my T34, am i likely to get problems then?

Was lead to believe it would be fine.

How about putting an independant cooling system on just to cool the turbo? Say a small ran and header tank.?

I've already got the proalloy turbo cooler. Was just thinking about keeping the turbo cooling totally seperat to the engine cooling.

I have the pro alloy intercooler, and was thinking about getting the seperate turbo coolant cooler, how much difference did it make to your water temps? is it worth me getting one?
cheers, mike.

cheers, mike.
I mounted mine under the front drivers side wheel arch.
to be honest i didn't notice any change in water temps. However i'm starting to think i may have a problem elsewhere as the engine is very difficult to keep cool.
Might take the big rad off and give it a clean out.
