Where in Germany to get front Gearbox rebuilt?
Well, I finally got the Scorpio up and running and the darn 4x4 went bad. Not sure if it is in the transfer case or the front gearbox. I havnt gotten it up on a lift yet. curious if anyone might know of a place though.
The car made a sound like a gear was missing a tooth for awhile. click 6 seconds and then click again. I think the car also vibrates now because of this. Now it doesnt click anymore. it just feels like the driveshaft (and sounds ) that it is hitting the floor pan. grrrrrrr. Also a great deal of oil (from what I dont know).
Any ideas as to where I might be able to get her rebuilt or as to what might be the problem will be much welcomed.
I am going to dig out one of my transmissions for a 2wd and propably install it for a bit, so I can drive the car.
I would even consider sending it to the UK, as long as the price is not outrageous (paying from US dollars to UK pounds can be expensive).
thanks,
TF

I am in the Mannheim area. however, at this point I am open to all. might not hurt to make a visit to them anyways. Sierras and Scorpios are a bastard child around this area. LOL
Stutgart isnt to far away.
I owuld check back with SUHE motorsports, but they are really far away. Basically almost nothing in the Mannheim area for auto tunning or performance.

TurboFlush,
you could be in luck mate. I am just north of Frankfurt and have a Sierra 2.9i 4x4. I will be removing the engine and all transmission, running gear, suspension etc from it to install everything from my 2wd cosworth. i will be doing this in the next few weeks, as soon as i have arranged a workshop. when they are out, you are welcome to come and collect everything that you need for free. you would be helping me by doing so.
all transmission parts are in very good working condition. there are no vibrations or noises from anywhere. post up, or pm me if you want anything from the car.

TurboFlush, will do mate. i'm away from wednesday until sunday night, but then i'll try and get a workshop. i hope to be in one next week, and then start stripping both cars down.
it will be an easy job to go underneath and take everything out like that. disconnect exhaust and take it off. disconnect fuel and wiring from engine. undo 4 x-member bolts, 4 anti roll bar bolts, 4 gearbox x-member bolts and 2 strut top nuts and the whole engine/gearbox/front suspension can drop down on the floor. then the back axle is 3 bolts each side, 4 on the diff and 2 on the damper tops, 2 on the prop shaft centre bearing and the rear axle + prop shaft is off.
if you, or anyone else you know wants anything else like the engine, radiator, prop shafts etc, they're all going for free.
white cossie in my sig picture was destroyed at the 'ring last weekend by my mate. see https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=122855
righthooker, cheers mate. i like to help out where i can. it will be good to meet another ford fan, and he'll be doing me a favour by taking the parts out of the way.

Wow, that sucks. so the whole drive line of the Scorpio is going?
I am looking for the rear also (from the later scorps with vented rears).
What ring are yall refering to? Hockenheim Ring?
I must be in totally the wrong part of Germany, LOL. I never see sierras any different than a base 2.0, not even with a hitch.
Prolly all been bought and taken as far away from the americans as possible though. Americans usually junk the cars when they are leaving, even if they have nothing wrong with them.
foreigneRS: you have another PM

we're talking about the legendary Nordschleife (Northern Loop) of the Nuerburgring. A 16 mile lap known as the green hell. You mean you haven't been there? Jeez, we have to get you there in that turbo 'stang of yours.
The whole driveline is going, but the rears are not vented. I think that we also have to make sure that both vehicles have the same ratio's so that we don't mismatch the front and rear differentials.

You know, I asked on another forum (a long time ago), how to check for the rear end ratio and never could get an answer. grrr.
I was also wondering if they have to be matched or if it had some way of figuring out how fast they were suposed to be moving.
how would I find the ratio's of both [good tech article for the forum].
gota get back to work now,

hmm, hopefully someone knows how to find the ratios. If not I might have to go to ford and see if they can help me. However they often dont like to speak to me because I dont speak enough German, and i know even less technical automotive German.
i will look on a spare rear end I got, and see if I can find something, dont remember anything though.
in the states you get parts by the part, over here in Germany it is by the car. heaven forbid you loose your registration to some sort of odd or rare car (1.8 cvh sierra). LOL

I forgot I had this paper in my pocket. I raised the Scorp into the air and got the numbers from the tags. some of them may be slightly wrong because after many years of dust and grease build up they get hard to read.
here is a try at it. .
Front Differential:
BBAA
195 GF04
Middle Transfer casel:
v859T AB
29495 6G03
Middle transfer box to gear box housing:
D839T NF
0G6F 26G
Rear Differential:
85BB006AA
A362 6615
It sounds to me that the transfer case is what failed, there is alot of oil that came out of it (auto fluid). I ran out of time to check any furthur. noticed that the shaft that goes thru the oil pan is also leaking a little
I will try and swing by ford and give them a kiss on the nose and hopefully they will be nice and help me with the numbers. or I just call ford customer support and try to speak German
checked out the nuerburgring.de site. looks interesting. how much is it to get in? I was told something like 300Euro!!!! I will have to schedule a swing by. keep me posted to when yall go?

TurboFlush, i'll try and get mine on the ramps this week and see what i find.
nuerburgring is just 16 euro per lap (20 km, or about 12 miles) for a single ticket, or less if you buy a bunch together. i will be going on saturday, but only to watch some racing. the nordschleife is not open for tourist drives then. will be going back as soon as the cossie is rebuilt into the kombi. am going to check out a workshop tonight so will hopefully get started soon. there will be a big meet of passionford reglars in September, as there is also a massive ford show on in holland one weekend. you should check that out. it's called europena ford event or something like that.

16 euro!! i can deal with that!!! it is only like 2 hours from me I think. Not to bad.
You ever hear of 1on1-motorsports.de? I am part of the founding crew. I show up when I can. We race (or should I say Tune) up at bitburg at the air feild. the track is alright, but I like the twisties more anyways.
Why not just swap the rear ends across? The cosworth rear is probably stronger anyways.
I ran across a late Scorpio with the heavy duty 5 star rims and the vented rear. however the yard said that the car was to be picked up. so I couldnt get the rims or rear end. :-(
You need a set of rims? I got some smooth 5 stars in a dark grey type color. I believe they are 15's .
I need to get to bed....
work on BMW tomorrow.
Unfortunately I will be busy this weekend probably helping a guy refresh a used motor and ploping it in place of the smoking beast that currently resides. looks like I will have me another spare 2.0 block. Maybe I will get lucky and it will be a 200 block. ( yah right!!!). I think I will have to phone Burton or holbay and talk some motor numbers with them so I can get some straight answers.

TurboFlush, i've just had my sierra 2.9 4x4 on the ramps.
the tag on the front diff says:
V85BB AA
29495 1A22
transfer box:
888T7L133 AB
C9P5A 9K10
don't know if that get's us any further forward?
anyway, i still don't have a workshop where i can start stripping these cars down. i will find out more about one on saturday, but that's delayed me by at least a week. hope you don't mind waiting for these parts?
