Default S1 advice

Greetings fellow RS peeps. Had my S1 for 6 months and although she has been washed almost every weekend i want to spend a day treatin her to a wash, polish and Supagard. Car has all original paintwork and does'nt look faded but after 20 years i suppose it must be. What is the best way to bring the paintwork back up to scratch before i polish ? T cut do a white colour one which they say blends all whites but i don't wanna risk changin the colour of the car ! Does anyone do a diamond white one ? Is T cut ok to use or should i use something else ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Colour t-cut shouldn't change the colour of the car: does pink polish turn it pink, or normal brown t-cut change it ? No t-cut or colour-polish is ever the right shade for the car anyway.

All it will do is lift off any in-grained dirt & make it shinier & cleaner looking. Go for it.

If you are that bothered about it possibly changing the colour, do a test on the slam panel, or inside the boot first to check.

Cheers Shawn. Last used T cut years ago on an old car i had and seemed to remember it had the colour of the car on the cloth. Always thought it was a bit savage and did'nt wanna risk it on me babe ! It's commonly used by everyone is it ?

I suppose it depends on how badly the colour has changed, mainly sun-fade probably.

does the paint look faded at all? If it's been looked after & polished regularly before you got it, then it may be ok..but if you're unsure, do the test piece first & see how it looks. If the slam panel, or wing-top edges under the bonnet look the same as the wing, then the colour won't have changed that much.

Good luck on the polishing, it's nice weather for it.

vroooom ptssssh I think the colour is ok myself but wanted to spend a good few hours makin her look as new. Thought i could use something to bring the paintwork to as it was. If it makes a difference then fine, if not then. . . . fine again ! Wanted to know wot would be the best stuff to use.

It can be, but like I put on the last post mate, if it's quite badly faded then it wil bring it up. If it's been looked after & isn't too bad (the slam panel - wing check) then it may not need t-cutting.

Think i will leave the T cut and use some autoglym stuff. Like i say, i don't think the car is faded at all really but thought if i'm gonna spend loadsa hours on her, it seemed daft not to try and restore any colour loss it might have first. Cheers guys !
