I had just under 220bhp with;

PE Chip
Mongoose Exhaust
K&N Filter
GRS Mk1 Intercooler

Otherwise the engine was standard.

I think the highest it made on that set up was 218bhp and 229lbs/ft torque. That was a LONG time ago though now. A decent intercooler is a must though, do not skimp on that, or use the standard one for anything more than standard boost.

The standard intercooler is no good for any more than 14psi.Even at that the charge temp's will be sky high.
Half the problem is that it's tucked out the way and not getting much cold airflow to it.
Never heard of the standard one being better than an aftermarket one mate.After market one's are generally at least twice the size,so therefor getting better air to it
The colder the air is reduces the chance of detonation

You could make 200bhp on a standard IC... In one gear, by the time you get to the next gear the ACT's will be stupidly high, like 60 degrees plus...

No on a std intercooler you can only kick out 170bhp-180bhp boosting 12psi-14psi & thats fucking pushing it already! thats with the common mods exhaust K&N etc..etc

Wherever you heard... Ive heard of someone that its better than some brand new ones..... thats some "bullshit" right there

Just look on all the RST's wich kick out over example... 190bhp LOOK at the intercooler & see for yourself, or be pain stupid & rebuild your engine every 4 months if it aint turned to ash

I'm not saying it's a good idea at all. You'd be a bit of a fool to run more than standard boost with a standard intercooler.

I have seen a car make 190bhp @ 14psi on std IC in 4th, by the time the car got into 5th gear on the road, the ACT's were over 60 degrees. A charge cooler was purchased the next week

18 or 19psi on a standard turbo, and the engine had done about 120k at the time, how it stayed together for as long as it did I'll never know
