I must intervene in this suitable topic.I personally beleive we are just being shown a valuable lesson,and that is,the Ford Cosworth isnt the only item thats unreliable,needing constant money thrown at it to keep it going.Sad but true.

Least the time and effort does go into the website...the monney contributed is USED to run the site....

It doesn't sit in the bank account gaining interest while the tight as fuck chairman does everything from home n refuses professional help

I do actually have a forum (well its not actually MINE, but its the clubs), and in the last 365 days it has been running, it broke for 2 hours

And as its currently being run off the web servers owners back (IE 100% free, no charge to look at all the rooms, and no traders fees) I'm sure he would be happy to take it on.

If you guys wanna use it, feel free

 

ok m8 we will use it if it can handle the badwidth this forum uses for the price and the amount of users it copes with....jesus its been down for about ten percent of the time the rsbb has and thats the reason this site was created lest we forget jesus instead of moaning how about giving stu an pet a break as pet dont have to do this you know its not as if he enjoys being moaned at in his spare time ffs if its down its down get over it!!!!

I dont know how much bandwith PF uses, but it would easily be covered by the trader fees.

Not that I'm dissin PF, its a great community, but at the end of the day people have paid for a service. You wouldn't want to pay full in a resteraunt where there are no waiters on duty 90% of the time would you?

 

It used to be great but for the last month or two it has been very unreliable. No-one can deny that.

Hope it is sorted soon.

Hate to say it but imvho the amount of time it's down isn't bad at all given the sheer volume of queries the server gets hit with at peak times - iirc it has to work out what posts have been updated for every single user who logs in; if 300 people log in in the space of half an hour, that's... uhhm... a metric fuckload of checks on a database this size.

phpBB isn't a bad piece of software though, and Pet certainly seems to know his php, so I wouldn't lose confidence in the site juuuuust yet!

rather than knock the site lets look at it logically !!!!

theres a problem wit the site and its only the last few weeks this has happened and i had issues looging on this site i also had a issue getting on stu's webshop too

hes website was working fine though

now rather than cunt the site off and say about how good the sites ya all work on that dont have the same number of hits and veiws per day lets try and use this as a way to help stu adn pet find the problem

personally i look at it like a car, rusn fine wioth no probs then theres a problem ya fix and another prob starts and another, ,,,, ya need to find whats causing th issue not just close th bonnet and wave ya arms in the air spitting on it

and i do find it funny when people all offer and say they would be fine to run the site as there site has no issues


this site never had issues for ages and its only recent its happened, maybe its time to swop severs and see if that helps

the guys with sites offering to take over is abit like a my dad saying to the england coach " i run a under 's football team and we never loose, i can take over this team and make em win as im proven where i live and all the guys in the pub are happy"


also if all these peeps who do have there own forums love em soo much why do thyey still post on here

i never use any forums as i cant be arsed to check em all, join em and then never seem to go back
