Default Fuel Metering Unit.

Hi,

Would anybody in the know be so kind to share what has to be done to the fuel metering unit to supply enough fuel to run more than 15psi of boost?

Is it reliable? or just ok as a temporary solution while i get some £££ for a fifth injector setup.

Cheers.

i know how its done, but dont try it yourself, has to be on a cO machine as its really sensitive

its the fuel pressure actuator on the side, little black box, some tuners can do it, for around 80 - 100 quid,

Mine ran lean on full boost at 21 psi,on a road lambda check, had the fuel pressure mod, sorted it out,

You will now get people on here now say it makes the car very bad on fuel and has bad econmony off boost, but for one thing, i get the exact amount of miles outta of a full tank of fuel as i did before i rebuilt my engine, and only running 14psi.

I not saying the fifth injector is a bad idea at all, if i could afford it i would install a mf2 one, but my tuner done the fuel pressure mod on mine at my car goes right off the clock with no pinks or hold backs at all, on my rolling road power run at the weekend my graphs curve line was very smooth.

there is a cold startvalve 5th injector out, what people are now going for, which is 125 quid, never used it so cant comment

Hope this helps

HI,

IF you have a access to a co% machine it a bit of piss, when i chip a rs turbo,
i take off the fuel presure actuator at the side of the fuel distributor(metering unit)
and then you see a brass screw, remove this and then you will see a allen key
which some are sensitive compared to others, turn in to increase co% a 1/4 of a turn and put
the thing back together, and reset co% 2.5%approx on idle then at cruise
fuelling approx 3500rpm the co should be up another 1% when you hold the revs
at 3500rpm for about 30 secs to 1minute, if to rich reset vice versa, bit messy
with fuel about so take care, and dont loose the seals off the pressure actuator. to run more than 15psi is your risk, unless you can have a power run to check fueling at 15plus, listen carefully when on boost for pinking
detonation.

Anyone that messes with the set-up of their car should be prepared to gamble only with what they can afford to lose........

(We do it for £80, properly)

And how do you know its working under boost when you do this as all youve tested is that youve got 3.5% CO with the airflow meter closed and the TPS open circuit and no boost pressure.

Not Ideal at all
