Fairly common transplant in the GOLF world. Think one of the issues of performance VW shows whats involved. Ill see if my friend has it.

cheers mate il tell my mate to get his ass down to the news agents

hopfuly the mk2 golf gearbox wil fit

i told him he wants the new omex 600 ecu on there and when i told him the price of the ecu and loom he nearly swalowed his tongue lol!

he wants to do it because im doing a zetec turbo and as he is a VW nut i said the same sort of conversion is an engine out of a seat cupra and probably would give my ZT a spanking with more reliability if mapped properly

there is a 1.8 20v T engine out of a golf on ebay but i think there the pooh versions

il have to do more investigating me thinks

theres a company called qpeng who make a loom and supply a pre programmed MBE ecu for this conversion, it comes pre mapped to take the 150 bhp AGU engine to 200bhp

buts its at least £850 for the bits

you will also need an air filter
customer exhasut
merc sprinter inercooler
8v friction plate
16v prussure plate
mk2 golf carb throttle cable
and a G60 engine mount from memory

Personally i think that the 1.8t is the cvh of tomorrow. its in almost every thing from people carriers to sports hatches and the bottom end is good for relible 300bhp easy. how much does and average second hand 1.8t cost out of a srap yard u reckon ?

its fairly straight forward as far as im aware and the parts needed have already been listed...the only complication for this conversion is the management but thats solved by running aftermarket management

a few people that i know have done the conversion without problems...

a mate of mine has a Mk2 Golf Rallye with a 20v turbo running 319hp and 361ft/ibs torque, running M3 injectors, standard turbo, steel bottom end, Motec engine management, and a quaife 6 speed gearbox...linked up to the standard Rallye 4x4 system...quick is an understatement! He wants to run the S3 4x4 gear in there and change the turbo for more power at some point
