Regarding a Washing Machine Waste Pipe.......

Is there a guideline for the amount of 'Fall' that should be on a pipe for this purpose?

Or is a 'Slight' fall enough? (e.g. 2"-3" over a 2 Metre length?)

 

just make sure it dont go straight down or thw waste water will go back in the washer!!! have u got a downpipe with the swan neck or a spigot under the sink ? just make sure it goes up before it goes back down

 

This is a new installation so I havent got anything yet, so I can do it however. All I know at the moment is that I need a length of pipe to run horizontally under the floor and I haven't got alot of room, so can't get alot of fall on it.

 

trouble with extension pipes it puts the drain pump under alot of strain

Where the Washing machine is going, the obvious way is to fit a 'Stand-Pipe' behind the machine, then round a Swan-Neck type bend before heading off towards the Main House Drain, which is about 2 Metres away.

I havent really thought about how the machine will connect to the Drain Pipe yet, not really worried about that at this stage.

Most people would probably take the pipe out through the wall and along the outside wall into the drain. However, I dont really want the pipe on the outside wall, so I want to run it under the floor. However, there isnt alot of height available under the floor where the pipe is going, so I need to chase a channel out for the pipe to run in. Thats why I need to know about Fall on the pipe as the more fall that is needed, the deeper my Channel will need to be.

Starting at the start then, assuming there is no facility at all for the waste outlet for the washing machine, what the best way to do it??

1. Vertical Open Stand Pipe that you simply loosely put the hose off the Washing Machine into?

2. Vertical Stand Pipe that is closed off with some kind of proper connector for the Washing Machine Hose??

or some other way?

 

Mine has a vertical pipe behind the machine that's maybe 18-24 inches tall and the drain pipe just pops into the top of that.

Below floor level I'm almost certain there is a u-bend thing to stop the drain smells coming up the pipe.

As for fall, I'd guess that an inch or so per metre run will be enough. Too much is as bad as not enough.
