Hi,

It is true. The reason is to avoid water entrance on MAP.
It was a Ford campaign, at the beginning of RS.

Hi mate, i saw a transit van with a cossie engine and the map sensor was bolted verticaly on the bulkhead, so don't think it will cause running probs but no 100% sure..

it must be mounted as in a cossie - with the nipple vertically down. that is to stop fluid (water condensation or oil) collecting in the sensor that's present in the air in the inlet manifold (you mis-understood 2001ode, it's nothing to do with rainwater ).

do it once, do it right

Yes, ForeigneRS, I never said to avoid rain water entrance, just I said "to avoid water entrance", in fact water condensation.
But, where water condensation come from ? From the air, and from the rain.
Regards.
