You can generally hear big ends on start up before you have full oil pressure like you have said and you then dont really hear them (Unless there is no oil pressure!!) until about 2.5k upwards where you will get the rattling sound as a bit of load goes on them.

Again if youve just changed the Followers and not the cam at the same time then sometimes the cam will scrub the bottom out of the follower and cause a tapping sound but this will usually generate a misfire aswell.

More than likely if its a CVH then it will be the big ends but you never know!

Hope that helps - im sure if you mentioned a bit more about it then some more techinical guys might be able to help you to diagnose it

Think it should be 1bar on tick over and 2bar at 2000rpm at 88 degrees but not 100% will check today and post later to confirm

This sounds like what my m8s car did its sounded like tappets so he got a new kent cam and lifters......(as you do )
it wernt that then put new rings pistons in to remove piston slap (as you do again )
surprise suprise it wernt that, then put new bigend shells in it............... it wernt that either so he swapped the lump and gave it to me for nowt.
i removed the only thing he didnt swap?????
the mains had become worn due to poor oil pressure from a blocked oil strainer/pick up pipe so 25 quid set of mains and it was back on the road and quiter than ever (bargain )
