got an oil leak from around cam seal/rocker area, did the camshaft seals and o rings on both cams bout a month ago, put a set of hydraulic lifters in at the same time. noticed the car has used abit of oil this week and the block has oil around the front behind the cam belt cover, took the cover off and around the cam pullys was covered in oil, cleaned it off and left it ticking over after about ten mins the oil started running out between the front cam caps/half moons where they meet the head, when i put it together last time i put loctite between the front caps and the head. should i of used a silicone sealant? is it common for cossies to leak here?

 

Ford specify to use a sealer on the mating faces of the front bearing caps - i'd use a good RTV sealer - that should do the trick. I have had an instance of the rocker gasket slightly out of place and leaking too - so check that's ok at the same point.

 

as per nikh667.there is a small recess under the bearing caps which you have to put sealant in otherwise its leaks.was ther before

 

cheers dudes, removed and sealed under the front cam caps with some sealant while pf was offline - now sorted.
