Default XR3i fuel pump cutting out 1988 MFI

Hi all, I have a 1988 Escort XR3i that has a fuel problem, fuel pump gets noisy and starts spluttering/cutting out, I have just replaced the pump with a new genuine Bosch one and fitted a new petrol tank and fuel filter but its still doing it, any ideas?

Check the voltage. And take a look at the pump relay - probably melting.
Take the opportunity to rewire for full battery voltage (Use the original relay/setup as the trigger)

Update
Put 10 more litres in the new tank, charged my battery over night as it wasn’t turning over well due to standing a few months in the garage, fired straight up, left running in the drive for ten minutes then took a drive out in it and touch wood was perfect

Wrong fuel tank? MFI cars MUST have a big reservoir inside!
