hi folks got an old Mk5 thats very noisey on front suspension area, had a visual & pull/push around only thing that feels amiss is the inner tie rod end has a lot of in/out movement on both sides of the car anything from about 3-5mm movement,is that normal ?
looked at many of youtube videos and not any say about in/out movement

 

Inner tie rods should not have play. They should be able to rotate, but no in/out movement. 5mm is a hell of alot!!! Surprised you can steer the thing
