Let´s see how much live is still left in this forum.
Hello everyone,
sorry for my english, at nearlly 40 years old i´m still learning.
I´m Thomas from Austria. And a couple weeks ago i bought my first Sierra.
It´s a 1987 MK2 2.0i Ghia with the fuel injected Pinto engine.
The car is equipt with a factory sunroof and central looking, but without ABS and power steering.
Thanks to this forum, i learned a lot and also found a lot of good advice for my car.
I want to build a fun weekend car for occasionall Track use.
Why a Sierra ?
My dad had 3 Sierras in the past, and i learned how to drive in one of his and in my Grandpas Scorpio.
And now after a lot of japanese cars and 2 new cars, it was time for me to build myself a nice old car again.
Here is the Sierra on the day i brought it home.
And currently on jack stands so i can work on it.
I allready bought some parts over the last monts:
1992 Cosworth 4x4 Recaro cloth seats with 4 doorcards Ford RS 7-spoke 7x15 wheels Sierra Cosworth fiberglass front bumper Ford Sierra RS side skirts Ford RS Momo steering wheel 3.92 LSD Diff from a Sierra 2.0 DOHC 4x4
Sapphire non Cosworth Grill
I also plan to facelift the car into a Sapphire front end and maybe i can find a 4x4 cosworth hood that doesnt cost thousands of euros.
Next on my list are disk brakes in the rear and cosworth suspension , if i can find all the parts.
I allready found most of the parts for the front end swap.
Sapphire Grill and the metal strip under the headlights and also a new old stock Cosworth hood with a few dings and bruises.
I also got a set of fiberglass hood vents.
Then i found a RS package Spoiler, wich made me happy until i found a used, genuine Cosworth Spoiler.
While dismanteling the car i´m still amazed of the good condition of it.
Here i´m removing the front suspension and it looks great.
A little bit of rust on the fender where the bumper mounts is all i found.
Also every screw on the suspension opend without breaking. I´m really happy about that.
I also found some other parts for my suspension plans: 29mm front anti roll bar from a 91-94 Scorpio 24V Cosworth and a 20mm rear anti roll bar from a 95-98 Scorpio 16V.
Still looking for a 95-98 24V 21mm rear anti roll bar.
I also got a couple of driveshafts, as my car has the push in shafts and the LSD diff it got has the bolted on shafts. So i bought some shafts with stubs.
Then i found a complete Escort cosworth breaking system front and rear. Calipers and brackets.
I know that the 4x4 Sapph Cossi and Escort Cossi brakes are less desireable than the earlyer 4-pots, but my car will stay NA so the brakes should be good enough.
Still looking for rear Sierra Cossi or Scorpio 24V hubs for mounting the bigger disc brakes and completing the drum to disc and the diff swap.
For swaping to disc brakes all around i also found an early 25mm V6 Sierra brake master cylinder for cars with rear disc brakes without ABS.
Still a lot of work to do and parts to search but its going forward.
