Default Radically altered cars

Interesting video on altered cars. The dvla’s point system is a worry really. If you look at it. If you have an Old Ford you have mounted a Sierra rear beam in made it rwd and done a YB conversion or similar you would fail the points system and very possibly end up on a Q plate. Seems pretty strict as well in regards to chassis drilling at things. They love to make things hard for people

There should be rules to stop people (in my opinion) ruining classic cars by taking out the "proper" petrol engine and replacing it with an electric motor! There was a Porsche 911 Turbo at the Goodwood festival of speed which was converted to electric motor. Why would you do that to such an iconic car!!

Not my thing either but the video is an example of how the system works lol that guy is very knowledgable about the process. He touches on modding in general

The points system already exists, is current, but rarely ever enforced. Nor would a lot of people have the knowledge or skills to enforce such things

In the case of EV conversions, there are a lot of other rules that should almost make such conversions impossible to be legal from a safety standpoint. Certainly some of his battery enclosures seem very odd to say the least.
Although in a conversion, it would be difficult to make such things as safe as an OEM would

whats the issue if its nit your car
I don't understand why the new fashion for cossie is make them slow and put back to standard and claim it being original
my escort cab has a black top zetec engine in it,, id never put a Cvh back inside it

I like seeing cars in Malta as they put anything in the hole which makes then interesting to look at imo

I agree with you about putting different petrol engines in cars. Just been to Siomply Ford at Beaulieu and there were some great examples, a Mk2 Granada with a 3.0 staight 6 Toyota Supra engine, a Mk2 Capri with a big american V8 in it, a superb bubble arched Mk1 escort with a Cossy engine and an old favourite, Anglia 105e with a Lotus twincam engine. These are the sort of swaps that i like, not electric motor conversions which do nothing for me.
