Default Escort Cosworth battery drain

Hi All I've fitted a new starter motor to my escort cosworth and the battery is now draining within hours, the alternator is charging but it doesn't charge the battery enough to start the car even after a run, the battery is also new.

Could it be a faulty starter solenoid?

Can anyone help I was hoping to take it to a show tomorrow? Thanks

Simple.

Measure current and see where or what is draining the battery.

But there should be no possible way the starter could be draining the battery, as it would be totally disengaged. But test and see.

And you say the alternator is charging ? proven how ?

And have you load tested the battery ? Is the battery good ?

Thanks for the reply!

I will do some tests today, I've tested the voltage when the car is running and I'm getting 14v and the battery light goes out, I haven't load tested the battery but it's brand new and everything was fine until I change the starter motor, like you said I also can't see how the starter could cause this.

I will let you know what I find, thanks

To drain a battery overnight, would need to be pretty substantial.

Thanks for the advice, I've now found the issue, the starter I've fitted is faulty, it struggles.to start the car on times and draws all the power from the battery.

Thanks again for your help!
