Default Mk2 focus leak

Anyone had any issues with a mk2 focus getting wet on the drivers and passengers foot wells? Also seems to be wet in the rear passenger footwell. Car has no sunroof and is parked facing up hill. Anyone know any common areas to start looking. Coolant level is fine.

is the car RS or ST or have any type of tail gate spoiler fitted? As the RS spoiler leaks when the seals around the bolt holes to the tail gate wear out over time. Also rear light units are known for letting water in. Both these issues see water ingress into the boot. If you park the car uphill water could well be travelling into other areas of the car/cabin.

i had a mk2 transit connect which is basically a focus and it had a terrible water leak along the bulk head where a tracking device was fitted once, removed then holes not sealed properly, carpet had to be slung and new one off Ford on warranty fortunately. Maybe worth checking the bulk head area

Just an ST225. I had the boot leak about 3 years ago via the seams and hinges. But the cars parked up hill. Water must be coming from the front area. Boots all dry. Must be something at the front. Think I’ll have to take the carpet and underlay out and keep an eye on it

I’ll make some time after work on Tuesday and remove the carpet and underlay. Check the obvious things like drain holes under the scuttle then leave it parked as normal on my drive and monitor it. Just a ball ache having to take the carpets out. Hopefully it’s not hard.

so common on the Mk2 & 3 models, quite a long list of weak points like Jimmy said, if you have a sunroof check the drain tubes, or even screen itself, or weather strips and seals and even from rear, bumper bolts/vents, hinges/roof rail cover seams and lights grommets/gaskets and spoiler itself through bolt holes as known to get water in at rear and pass under carpet pooling in floor areas front and rear

It’s nothing at the back as it’s parked facing up hill and not wet in the boot area mostly front footwells. No sun roof. I’ll pull the carpet out tomorrow and see what’s what. Park it as normal and wait for the rain. I’ll check the drain holes under the scuttle as well
