Default Springs for a Sierra 2.0i DOHC 4door 1989

Hello,

I'm searching for stiffer springs for my car, but I don't want to lower the car much.
I can't seem to find springs for my car, I already have Bilstein shocks for the car, but finding correct springs is hard...
So my question is if cosworth 2wd (or 4wd) springs fit a standard Sierra?
If they fit then maybe the Ahmed Bayjoo springs are an option for me? Or are there other options?

Thanks!

Yes, Cosworth 2wd and 4wd springs do fit a standard Sierra. But the DOHC is a bit lighter than the Cosworth, so the front will sit a bit higher on the DOHC. I actually have a set of Ahmed springs that I'm not using.

Sorry for the late post but had some problems with my phone...
I'm from Belgium and i have e few options her with cosworth springs, but i didn't know they would fit.

So I you say that they will fit but the car is going to be higher? Even with the Ahmed Bayjoo springs of original cosworth springs?

This is the car in question, I think if it's going to raise, it's not going to be nice anymore

The car should sit a bit higher than a Cosworth when it's on the same springs, as it's a bit lighter than a Cosworth. How much is difficult to say. Lowering springs are normally quite a bit stiffer, so in that case the weight should not have that much influence on how it sits. But original springs are a lot softer, so then the weight has more influence.

Very nice looking car by the way!

To me looking at the car it is sitting quite high. A 25mm drop would suit it without being to low.Lovely looking car. Are the wheels 17inch?

Yes, lower would ruin it I believe. The guy I contacted here has a few option on springs, but didn't realy know witch springs he has. So I'll try to meet with him to see what he has.

Thanks for the complement! Yes they are 17" OZ Rally Racing rims. With 205/40 R17 tyres

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the very late reply on this case, but I finally got the springs in!

I got hold on original "sport" springs tha Ford sold back in the day for a standard Sierra.

When I did some research I found out that they where from Ford and there was an Eibach part number on it to!

I cleaned them up and painted them and fitted them to the car. The result is perfect! A 20mm drop and with the new Bilstein's the car has transformed! I also changed the rubbers to Powerflex in the front.

Much nicer to drive!

Thank u all for the comments on this case!

It sits very nicely. Also cool to see that you got the monotube Bilsteins on the front.

I agree Marc, the 20mm drop has worked well and he has not had to roll the arches like I had to on mine with a 35mm drop.

I guess the wheels and tyres are a bit smaller than most use on a Cosworth, so that will help with the arches. It looks good imo.

The front wheel does look very close to the strut though. What size wheels and tyres are you running?

The wheels are 205/40 R17, they are a little bit bigger than the standard Cosworth wheels originally fitted. Or the same size, I can't remember .

The wheels are indeed close to the strut, i think about 5mm but they fit! The offset is ET 40 instead of 41, that helps .

The 205/40 R17 is the same width as the Cosworth uses, but a slightly bigger diameter. But it is actually the same diameter as for a standard Sierra, which uses 185/65 R14. Most people (including me) run 215/40 R17 on a Cosworth, which is slightly wider and also bigger in diameter. Next to that my wheels are 8J wide and ET35. I assume yours are less wide, which will help with the 40 mm offset you have. Standard Cosworth wheels actually slightly catch the strut on a standard Sierra. This is because the strut/knuckle on a standard Sierra gives less room for bigger wheels.

My wheels are indeed the same size as standard Sierra, they have although an offset of 41 I believe, so in that case I decided to go with 40 as the rims are 7j wide.

I did consider 215, but then went for 205 to maintain the original wheel size .
