Just thought would say hello as I’m a newbie joined the forum this evening, had a few Rs turbos in the past, and also put together a series 1 years and years ago for a friend she then sold and it’s probably had a few different owners by now but it’s an usual car and deffo can’t be missed if it is still around, sadly I only have one pic of the car when we finished putting it back together, I won’t put the pic up yet but will do once have introduced my cossie to you lol so I currently have an escort cossie that I have owned since 2008, had me ups and downs with it but am in the process of getting her back on the road after being taken off to have work done on her went from a doing a cambelt change to then taking the engine out, pulling all the running gear off it replacing all the engine loom and more loom and more of fords old loom, to be fair had so many voltage drops and earth issues with the old loom just though sod it and done away with it. I have some pictures of the work that we done so far so will chuck a few pics up and also ask some questions that I bet people will be thinking omg not this question again lol. I’m not by any means an engineer or engine builder etc., I was shown about engines from my dad who was an engineer ( retired now ), that ended up with me getting a bit of weekend work many moons ago at a friend’s garage who then took me on full time where I done basic service work, clutches, cambelt replacements, then went onto timing chains and head gaskets, replacing valves and doing short engine work when having engines with big end knock getting the crank grind and checking journals and putting them back together ect. Anyway, I apologise now if I have bored anyone or if you got bored and closed the thread well sorry for that as well lol
Thanks guys, car still in work in progress at the min shes nearly ready, have loads of pics though as took all th erunning gear off had all that painted, also got the wasted spark kit from auto dynamics fitted it ourselves and lucky enough didnt need any mods for the rev counter to work, waited for the control board to be made for the ecu but just followed the instructions and works a treat. the wires were a bit of a bugger to solder onto the ecu pins but touch wood all is ok. have loads of pics of the build from taking the engine out to stripping it down and putting it back together. shes not to the standard of some examples out there but shes been a dream child hood car to have and took a few cars and savings to get her but when i got it back in 2008 i paid £16 grand with spare orginal head lights, switches, bannana pod, and door cards but gave them to my mate who was building a rep for just a few beers and a sunday roast now those parts could of got me quite a few sunday roasts and quite a few beers lol.
The wheels though Rich unfortunately arent rondells there Engel replicas but I still like them
I can post some pics up of the build process if anyone wants to see, also I have a pic of a series 1 that I think is quite an intresting reg and car and colour that we rebuilt for a friend of my Dads who he worked with. Her daughter had the car had loads of work done on the body then split up with her fella and she had no money and nobody to help her with the car this is back in 2000 and I had finsihed off building by Rs turbo F757 LEV so was in a position to help her so we had the car delivered to us on the drive with just a set of wheels as a rolling car then the rest of the stuff got dropped off in stages as we needed it. But would love to see if its still around as theres not many red S1 turbos about
