Default Stage 1 of Track car prep complete lol

Fitted the battery shut off switch to the Fiesta last night.

Was surprisingly simple to fit, but due to the lack of space in the Fessy engine bay we've mounted it in the scuttle panel, proper track car stylee. It does mean that i've had to drill holes in the scuttle, but now its all in it looks very tidy.

Will post pics later. Big thanks to Big Gary from the Beds group, who as ever, gave up his own time to work on the car

Just waiting for the brakes now, should be in the next couple of weeks, going for standard Escort Cossie brake set up on the front, im sure that'll be ok to stop all 130bhp

Slight question mark over whether the clutch will last before the first track day I do tho, so im trying to kill the clutch sooner so ive got an excuse to get the new one in there lol

Get some pics up.

We all seem to be going track mad at the mo. Cliff and I both ditched our installs and seats in favour of cages and harnesses. And a few other peeps seem to be removing interior parts in the quest for weight saving

I've just spent two weeks putting mine back in!!

As Rudey says clare, get a fire extinguisher in there, just fitted mine and i recon it adds to the rally slag look as well as preventing a disaster

No, im not going to bother with the Fessy, its only a cheap sh1tter so if it catches on fire i'll prob point and laugh along with everyone else

Just got in from work so took some pics whilst its still light out and stopped raining.

With the key in (stays in whilst driving and cant fall out)

When its disabled, it looks like this

We've wired it up from the earth, you can do it from either live or earth but this was easier for mine. I had 1 main earth with 2 smaller ones going to the negative terminal so we connected all of these to one wire which runs to one side of the shut off switch, the other side of the shut off is the only wire going to the negative side of the battery now.

Under the scuttle panel

In all, only took about 40 mins to fit the whole thing

A good start Clare.

Just remember never to forget the key now.

A battery cut off switch isn't mandatory yet either so not sure why you have fitted one ??

Serves 2 purposes really Tony, the car can sometimes stand for a week or so at a time without being moved and this was causing the battery to go dead toooo often.
Also, I have a feeling im gonna end up getting too cocky in it once i get used to being on track and chances are i'll stack it into something, so just a safety feature for someone to kill the engine if I do.
