I have a Puma linkage to fit to my series 1, and am also using the IB5 gearbox, am looking for advise on fitting from people that have done the conversion. Is it a direct fit , or do either of the rods need cutting down to allow for proper fitting? I also have a DA performance Adapter which I believe allows to bolt to the floor without having to drill extra holes etc.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

 

Scrap the idea and use a rally designs quick shift kit ..works loads better and centralises properly .

 

This kit won't work with pre-86 cars (push down reverse)!


Which kind of IB5 do you want to use? Keep in mind the Puma unit came with hydraulic cluth and the alternator position also might not fit the CVH. Most of the late Escort boxes (all 1.4i EFI and Zetec with front mounted starter) will work. For gearbox ratios similar to the RST S1 ones go for a 1.4i box, the Zetec ones usually came with ratios similar to the RST S2.
