the mrs is still hassling me to buy a new car (as in another car and the budget is around £5k), so what are the options?
she wants automatic, petrol, and preferably a range rover
but she might be tempted with a focus
but i live in london and have an expensive insurance postcode so she couldn't get insured on a golf gti so that's something else to consider
and go

If I can fix my Lexus' running issue (think its an intermittent injector problem) I just need to keep it two more years until I clear what's left of my mortgage, then I'm thinking about a Jag XE. Although, the Audi A3 saloon, with its piddly but very responsive 1.4 TFSi, also has my attention. I think if the Lexus died, I might get the Audi, run it for 5 years, then look at a newer Jag along the XE lines.

I’ve got a discovery 3. Admittedly it’s diesel but it’s mapped and it flies. I got it off Martin Hadland. He did an engine swap with a jag V6TD engine and uprated the oil pump etc. I’m selling it, all the comfort and toys of a Range Rover
A lot of English folk on car forums won't entertain Scottish cars because of the unique weather system
Lpg would be handy though.... Does that also reduce the emissions and reduce the road tax level ?

I looked at it after I got my Lexus. The cost of it vs what I'd save in tax over the years I'd have it wasn't really worth the hassle and loss of boot space.
I'd have saved 1800 quid in petrol since November already....
10000 miles at an average of 16mpg ... 625 gallons of v power at 6 quid odds a gallon....
