Default 100-200 kph 3.1 seconds

Finally got some ethanol in the gtr, only got upto e50 and tank was full so did a pull

100-200 kph or 62-124 mph in old money 3.1 seconds finally got to what I was expecting 😁🥰

What do you use it for? Is it still an everyday car for popping out to the shops or just a track toy?
I also couldn't find a tumbleweed smiley

That's a mega time, fair play!

Does it feel properly fast l now? I know you mentioned when you first got it that it didn't/wasn't what you expected.

My Datsun feels unlike anything I've ever been in before, literally brutal. Yours must feel the same I imagine?

Yeah feels bonkers fast now and I'm still not upto full power yet, pump fuel map is very conservative and effortless to drive so a good thing I guess for road use

But my god on ethanol I've never felt anything like it not even close, passing 103mph accelerating was pulling 1.62g on 20" r888r tyres fighting for traction 😮😮

I literally know exactly what you mean, I think. Properly fast cars seem to feel about 100 times faster than a REALLY fast car, if that makes sense!

Let me know if you take it Pod anytime soon, I keep meaning to go again.

I took the Datsun out recently on a (private) dual carriageway and it did a rolling burn out when I hit the throttle at 70mph. It was still spinning and twitching at 130/140mph.

Pmd ya pal
Just looking at my data best 0-60 with rollout is 3 seconds, and 62-124 mph 3.1 seconds, so in theory should be at 0-124 mph in 6.2 seconds, I wonder if I can do that at pod what it will make the whole run for time and terminal, I'm looking forward to finding out 😁👍

That will be a high 8 mate if you get it off the line ,,my old escort did at pod 0-112 at 6.3 and was allways around them times ,but obviously your figures are on the road so with grip it should get there quicker than you road time

Hopeing to try a week Monday, my pb is 11.9 so should beat that 😂🤣
Ive been having a read and from what I can gather burnouts are pointless on r888s so IL just go round the wet box and launch like I have been down my road, start at low boost and work my way up each run on ethanol will try get it close to e85 aswell 👍 and will have vbox on so all data recorded

Great stuff be good to finally meet you pal 👍
Have you ever tried m and h drag radials before ? I've got some 18" rims front have brand new 28" diameter m and h drag radials on but rears are low and have been repaired so I need new tyres for rear, wondering if these would be any better than my r888rs ?

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mnh-rod22

Don't have to be road legal as I have my 20" volks with r888r for road but there all I can find for 18" rims 28" tall

Il just get a set of new rear tyres the pal the same ones if there good for pod 👍, with tpms sensors and get em coated gold by wheel genie, at least I can still drive to pod on them aswell 😁👍

M&H as drag tyres will be night and day difference at Santa Pod

Sometimes even the likes of 888's don't work well at all at santa pod.

At least with the m and h I can use the line lock and rwd and burnout and warm em up mate

Im looking forward to trying the r888rs first though, I've never run them before I had street tyres on my old skyline and I put nittos on the supra and didn't get on well with those at all at pod

On pump fuel the r888r will be pukka I'm sure there great on the street, no dramas, but ethanol is a whole other story hopefully more grip at pod though

Likewise Nitto's for me were night and day difference than 888's

I ran my first 10's with ease on little 245/45x16 Nittos. Actually a tyre I reckon would be very good for street use too. They're soft, but not silly soft they'd get chewed up the way the likes of MT's etc do
Pod is just such a strange surface...some tyres you think should grip well, just don't. Although most drag type tyres should grip whether burnout or not unless you do get them wet or very dirty or something

I might be the same with my r888s 😂🤣 lol bloody hope not pal
They grip phenomenal on tarmac I've always rated them, it seems so far my 3.14 time is quickest with road tyres on unprepped tarmac on gtr cartel so they say

Previous owner struggled and best was 3.57 which may well of been on a proper drag strip aswell, all that's really changed is the turbos gt35 upto gt37 equivelant
The turbos are so big the boost comes in slowly I think that's what's helping with the grip tbh, lag doesn't bother me with launch control and a dct box it doesn't matter, and loads of scope left for alot more power if I ever decide to go further

Im not gonna go balls out first run though as much as I want to, I'd rather start at low boost and if all ok ramp it up each run, at least if I get a problem IL be running less power and less chance of a breakage, every time I've been to pod in the past wheel hop has been horrendous so I'd rather not go straight out 1326 whp and leave my box on the start line lol

3.1 is extremely fast on any surface. Although a lot of the fast cars on any list, will pull their times from the strip.....simply as it's the easiest and most level place to do it, as well as the grippiest.

Although most of the fast cars on the list are full on drag cars.

That whole "street car" thing might make that difficult lol. That said, some of the modern stuff out there now can truly be legitimate street cars and fucking fast.

Very difficult mate with funny cars with treaded tyres on 😂🤣
If I can get in the 2s 100-200 on r888s on Any surface I will be over the moon tbh, I think it might just be doable

A pair of them m and h tyres with shipping and taxes is nigh on Ł1000 for 2 tyres 😮

Can get all 4 r888rs for my te37s 20" for Ł850 !

Its interesting seeing how your progressing with this Karl, I enjoy hearing how you get on with your projects.

Out of interest what do you think contributes more to your low times, the sheer power of the engine or the drivetrain/box? Most cars i've seen in the eights have been stripped out lightweight 3 speed auto's for the most part (American cars) I've not kept up with most of the UK cars in a while.

It has changed, lots, and is dead now, and imo this is one of the reasons why, topics not even ford car related all the time, every day, on regular basis.

Just people trying to keep a dead forum from carrying on or just using this platform as another place to air their views or show what ever it is they have off

Cheers Paul

If people didn't post up non Ford stuff there would nothing to see here at all.... There's always been non Ford stuff in my 15 years here.... I only came on here in the first place because I had a cosworth engine in my e30 bmw and I don't believe for a second that this place is quiet and people have left because of the non Ford content and I for one am always interested to see different stuff folk own ..
"I clicked on the general car discussion section and was disgusted to see a non Ford topic.... I am outraged and won't be back.....".

That’s part of my point though, if there’s no ford content anymore then what good is a website forum dedicated to fords?
Do you just start posting anything to keep it going?

Some people haven’t left because of the non ford content, they have left because it’s becoming less ford content, there’s a difference.
It’s just a change of the times.

For example if I owned a different make/model car than a ford I’d maybe put the odd post up but I wouldn’t start a resto thread, or keep putting vids up, etc etc.

If I had say an Audi I’d join an Audi forum and post more stuff there, where there are more Audi fans and it’s more relevant.
I’m not saying everything should be 100% ford based etc but there comes a point where you look at the menus and see so many threads on other make cars it just makes people not interested.

As an example if I wanted to see gtr’s and power graphs and them launching etc I’d join some gtr forums or fb pages dedicated to them.
But that’s just me.
Each to their own opinion obviously and I’ve no doubt I’ll get no one agreeing with me 😂😂😂😂

I also realised I’ll probably get asked why I commented on a gtr thread if I’m not interested.
And the truth is I was hoping it was Cosworth related times 🙈🙈🙈😂😂😂

Cheers Paul

Gearbox is helping for sure mate but the main reason is huge amounts of power and grip

Cheers Paul
You've got to remember alot of people have been on here along time and made friends etc during that time. Sometimes its good to share with those mates, even if not directly related to a Ford. I know some people will argue Facebook is the place for that, but FB is shit, forums on the whole aren't!

I'd love to see more Ford content (anywhere, not just here) but very few people actually use their cars (of the age we're all interested in) and even less are doing anything interesting/unique with them.

Edit: Equally its not like scooby_slayer doesn't input anything Ford related. Got his Saph topic on the go, just happens to be a case that he can actually use the GTR

Totally understand your point of view Paul I'm on a couple of gtr forums also a UK one and a USA one

But passionford is the first car forum I ever used when all I had were cosworths, it is and always will be my favourite forum there's still a few old boys around on here from back when I first came on here

It's certainly not a case of trying to show off I'm just shareing my experiences of the different cars I get like I always have done and people are still interested so I carry on doing it, all forums seems to have alot less users nowadays sign of the times I guess

I think my supra thread was one of the biggest longest running threads on here years ago, trying to get close to rods rolling times and the car constantly breaking down and failing miserably at pod 🤣😂 lol

Will be some cosworth times up when cars done still don't have it yet 😂🤣

You've hit the nail on the head pal 100%
I don't seek out any new ford forums but I do gtr ones I joined gtr USA forum just 2 weeks ago 👍

Theres alot of history in this forum for me and im a sentimental old bugger 😂🤣
Going way back timing my cosworths with videos of the Speedo then progressing onto a Gtech proper meter to record performance, rod starting my hunger for 1000 hp, it's all started from this forum IL be on here forever whatever I'm driving unless I get banned for being to off topic 🤣😂 lmfao

It must be coming up 20 years or so I've been on here 😮

I always preferred it on here because it was more relaxed than the banter free zone that was the BMW Forum who frowned upon anything non standard...ive never actually owned a ford in the time ive been on here
