Default Help please - Turbo loses pressure. Watch video

Hi everybody:

I am Álvaro, from Spain, and I have a S2 cabriolet. It was XR3i but now it has all it can from RST

Turbo Cabriolet

I wirte you cause I have a little big problem with the machine:

When turbo is going to kick, sometimes, it loses pressure (and power fall down), sometimes it doesn.t. It is impossible to get a pattern but i adviced that:
1. It fails more often when it is hot. As hotter more fail.
2. When it fails, engine sound changes to lower sound.
3. I thougt it could be caused by old boost hoses (they was so soft) so I changed to new Rose Motorsport kit. But it continues failing.

You can see a couple of videos. One OK and one failing:

TURBO OK:

TURBO FAIL

Thanks so much, excuse me for my bad English and I hope I could help you in the future.

Its like a slow motion version of the classic, boost spike or peak and hold.
Could be a split or loose boost hose? A restriction in the turbo, air filter etc collapsing? Also i would fit a new wastegate as spring may be weak?

Is it possible it is like slow motion cause I am driving in 4th gear and upping hill? Anyway, I replaced all hoses a few days ago. I think it is possible a weak actuator too. I ordered one last week. I cancelled amal valve and I am waiting for new actuator arrives.

Thanks so much!!

Buenos dias Alvaro I would try an - 31 actuator first because they are the best in my opinion. How old is the actuator on the car now?

Hi Buster. Thanks for your answer. I ordered a -31 one 2 weeks ago. I am waiting for it. I don´t know how old the actuator on the car is, but watching it, I think it is the first and de only one . I hope this was de cause.

Thanks!
