Default Petrol Types and Prices ?????

I was at Sainsbury's today and noticed that they sell super plus unleaded at the same price as normal unleaded which is 83.9

WOW I was thinking, that's really good!!

Then I thought hang on a minute, is it the same type of super plus that the other garages would sell or is it not as good? Is petrol just petrol or is Shell, Esso and BP etc better quality fuel? I'm only asking because normally I get fleeced when I'm filling the cossie up and if I can just go to Sainsburys and use their cheap super plus rather than BP's extortionately priced Ultimate then it'll save me a few quid every week.

Ur expert knowledge on this subject would be grately appreciated

This'll cause a huge debate, but imo, supermarket fuels aren't as 'good' as big brand SUL's Optimax etc. and will certainly have different additives - and allegedly a larger proportion of detergents - cleans engine yes, but I personally want petrol when i'm buying petrol, not detergent, lol.

I just want cheaper fuel and if I could use the Sainsbury's fuel then I would as it will save me a fortune every week when I fill my chariot up

I think most tuners would recommend sticking with a major brand SUL on a (especially when chipped) Cossie, but if you insist on saving money then it'd be worth a quick chat and possibly a quick setup/check on the new fuel - boost may need reducing slightly etc. for safest running.

A mate always ran his 350bhp Sapph' on Tesco's SUL as he refused to pay extra, lol. He had no issues that I remember, but I still wouldn't personally.

When i used to work for Co-Op whilst at uni their petrol station would fill up with Fina. I think most supermarkets purchase their fuel from leading SUL brands anyway but their stations are never as heavily branded.

I always use Optimax and it is cheaper than super unleaded and has a higher octane rating.

They do indeed Ran - only so many petrol 'manufacturers', but it's not the same fuel mix as they sell off their own forecourts. And I doubt they'd custom livery a tanker just for supermarkets

Is it a Large turbo model? If not, I wouldn't be embarrassed LOL

Only saw two whilst out there, a Mallard one and a red one - both covered in reddy/orange dust, lol.

Weather hasn't been too bad here today either

I've just had my car set up at SCS, new chip etc and I normally use BP ultimate or shell optimax it just depends on where I am at the time when my petrol light comes on

I just wanted to know if SPU was the same no matter which garage forecourt you bought it at, to be honest there's only 6p difference between the normal garage prices and Sainsburys but it's still cheaper if u catch my drift
