Default over fuelling after fitting new MKI lines S2 rs turbo

cut a long story short my S2 1988 rs had been sat for 7 years on a shed here in australia, i bought it then got new battery , new fuel, new oil and she started.....until the MFI fuel return line ( which had been replaced with a rubber hose) split and sprayed fuel on the dizzy....you can imagine the rest.....
so i have just fitted new (used) genuine red plastic fuel lines to all injector nozzles and cold start...
gave the fuel pump a couple of primes of the key ( without coil connected to dizzy just to check for leaks at the banjo joints)....then connected the HT lead to the dizzy and turned the key..
she started and runs but very rough....
today i pulled the plugs and they are very very black and sooty so i think its getting too much fuel....tommorow i will clean the plugs but will that fix the issues?does it make sense to you lads that it HAD to much old fuel still mixed with shitty 7 year old fuel (considering the smell of it) and because i gave it a couple of turns of the key to prime the fuel pump its flooded?
how to i un flood it?
i have no confidence after seeing it in flames already haha

As long as the engine is not running and the flap inside the K(E)-Jetronic is not moving there will be no fuel injected. So you can prime as often as you like to. It's just to build up pressure in the fuel system so it might start a bit easier.

7 year old fuel might be an issue. Ignition is not as good as with fresh fuel so you might just have a lot of fuel in your car that just couldn't be burned.

But a K-Jetronic not being used for seven years - especially when the car is about 30 years old now - also can cause a lot of troubles. The control plunger inside the fuel distributor might be stuck or worn and not being used for a long time the seals inside the fuel distributor also might be cracked now.

First of all I'd try to take care of all obvious things.

1. Use new fuel
2. Replace fuel filter
3. Replace old injectors (they suffer from wear, especially when being used for 100.000 km and more)

4. Check K-Jetronic pressures

5. If this all didn't help, check the electronic parts of the KE. I'm out now, I've just been working with K-Jetronic

6. Last option: fuel distributor rebuild
