YB head thickness question :: Need Help
Hi All,
I would like to ask if someone can help me how to get the correct head gasket thickness with the below engine specs:
Thanks.
I would like to ask if someone can help me how to get the correct head gasket thickness with the below engine specs:
- Head Measure: 137.4
- Bore: 91.33
- Crankshaft bearings : 0.25
- Pistons rings: 0.25
Thanks.

From: it's not where you are, it's where you've been and where you hope to be
if you mean to achieve a particular compression ratio then only the head thickness in the above list is significant (the overbore will make a minor difference).
you also need to know the volume above the piston at TDC and the combustion chamber volume in the head, which, if its a 2wd head at that thickness, will likely be around 45cc.
1) determine the desired compression ratio and work out the required CC's to achive this (= REQVOL)
2) add together the volume above the piston in CC's and the head's combustion chamber volume in CC's to get value Z.
3) subtract Z from REQVOL and the remainder is the volume of CC's required in the gasket.
4) each miilimetre of gasket thickness will add another 6.5CC
