Default 08 plate mondeo 2.5t timing belt torque specs please

If anyone could help that would be great, I’ve tried to search but I haven’t found anything.

any help is appreciated.

also how is the air con belt tensioned? Save me poking around, I only picked the car up yesterday 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

thanks.

edit: just the main ones, water pump, idler, tensioner will do, bottom pulley if it’s to hand 👍

thanks mate, I was balls deep into it already, managed to phone a friend 🤣

I wasn’t prepared for the stretch belt on the AC pulley 🤦🏻‍♂️ So it’s all back together bar that, I’ll have to pick some tools up from machine mart tomorrow, what a stupid design, the subframe gets right in the way too 🤣

No worries. I didn't know the mondeo 2.5t has a stretch belt. The Same engine in a Focus doesn't.

Funny you say that as neither did I 🤣 At least it’s answered my question of if I have enough tensioners now 🤣

there it sits in all its glory, no more than 10” diameter and a stretch belt.

Well spotted Glenn, that headless bolt would be a problem to tighten or remove.

That’s just a locating dowel guys 🤣 the fourth bolt is hidden in the darkness.

heres a better picture of it and with the stretch belt successfully on might I add 🤣🤣

some people have said they managed to just squeeze it on but I couldn’t, I had to remove the second pulley on the PS pump then modify the tool I bought from machine mart to fit onto the pulley as the pulley is so small and shallow, and use it without the securing bolt, it took a couple of attempts but it eventually bit and went on, hardest part was trying to turn the PS pulley as there is no centre bolt to use.

drives like a champ now, gave it a good service, it was way overdue an oil change and the K&N filter was manky so threw that out and put a nice new paper one in, the oil will need changing again soon, I may even get the bore scope in the sump and check the oil pick up for sludge, none came out with the old stuff but it wasn’t far off, the engine is nice and quite with no signs of oil starvation so that’s good, mpg is healthy which is a good sign.

got a new wide band lambda in and a set of plugs, so it’s good to go.

really enjoying this mk4 mondy though, paired with this engine makes it a brilliant car, so many toys on it too, and so far everything has been quite easy to work on, a far cry from the VAG stuff I’m used too.

Lol at the locating dowel ha ha.

Dont mention VAG to me. I think everything about them is a fookin chew on when working in the cooooonts.

I love my mk4 mondeo it's a really nice car to drive without the badge snobbery. What does yours go like with the st engine in then?I take it they have less bhp than a ST focus? What is your mpg like?

That’s really smart Glenn 😎 that’s a mk4.5 isn’t it?

the 2.5t engine is amazing in the Mondeo, it’s very quiet and smooth and it’s got bag’s of torque, I’ve managed 38-39mpg a couple of times on decent runs now, earlier I drove to cov and back and I think I got around 30mpg but I was playing silly buggers quite a bit 🤣 it’s standard output is 217bhp or something around there, but I’ll get my mate to map it and it should push out about 280bhp just on software if I recall correctly 🤔

I got quite luckily with mine, it’s well specced, best feature is the ACC, first car I’ve had with it on and it’s great for busy journeys, and the keyless entry and start button are nice features for being lazy.

The mines a mk4.5. There a cracking car to drive.

I bet a 400 Bhp focus RS engine would be crazy in a mk4.
