Hey guys it’s been 6 years since I’ve been on Passionford and in that time I’ve mainly been running Audi A4 Avants with a Golf Gti MK5 in the middle for a change.
But a couple of years ago I decided I wanted another Escort Bonus
i found a tidy G plate Mercury Grey car, then It sat for nearly a year and a half under a cover I’d done a few bits but hadn’t really progressed it
A few months ago I decided I best start properly

 

Looks a clean shell, hard to find them like that now

Bought and restored a 90 spec interior

 

Nice work, I want another escort but have been looking for a lhd example, no such luck yet.

At least the majority of parts for these are still available which is nice

 

Few more bits done

 

Bought a turbo bonnet(just needs a dent guy on it) with no rust
although I also have a second one that has no dents but does have rust
I’ve also got a pair of 90 spec bumpers and 2 90 spec spoilers(just need to pic the best)
I had a set of 15inch cossie look wheels on it briefly but have swapped them out for a set of 17 inch Stil Auto wheels
ive also got my focus that is supplying its engine, box, rear disc hubs, plus possibly more

 

My xr3i has more rot than that 20 years ago.

yes I know him he lives just round the corner from me
he also has a mk2 escort with a duratec turbo he is building and 2 mk1 cortinas

 

up at my mates garage out of the winter weather and the little push rod engine and 4 speed box have been removed and almost all the car has been stripped

 

Repaired the front panel and started welding up all the spare holes in the inner wings

 

Lots of new parts

 

Got my car stripped right back to the bare shell
and started mocking up the engine fitment.
need to just make the gearbox mounts and weld them in

 

Started altering the rollover jigs for a mk4 as they had been previously used on a mk3

 

Bit more welding done on the inner wing
then onto cutting the rear arch out
it has had a new arch fitted in the past but they just stuck it over the top of the rust😡
so we cut it out and are doing it right

 

Cut more of the inner arch out and started making the gearbox mount up for the mtx75

 

Mount finished
