Default Santa pod 2020 fords

Thought I'd get this thread started early enough this time lol

Just a fun day out at rwyb seeing if I can beat my 134 mph, be great to get some more fords there but other cars could be bought along, looking at September/October anywhere in there, before that will be difficult for me due to work commitments

Question is who would be up for it ?
I'm defo going thinking either rwyb or test and tune day as I've not been to one of those yet

Test an tune would be better, normally £60 to run but prepped track and not normally packed so can get a few runs in,but I’d be up for this

I was at the last T&T Friday of last year.

Was woefully disappointed at how slow cars were getting to use the track, despite the queue almost never being past the pedestrian crossing. And because there was an event on for the Saturday, the T&T guys were literally crammed into one small section of the car park with basically no room to move.
Certainly not what I had expected from such a day.

Santa Pod just makes things so frustrating for people

I guess a private day would be best mate, but last time I tried to do it I think it was £5k for the day with track prep on top.
But nobody would commit so I abandoned the idea I didn't fancy paying out £5k plus for a day at pod, I'd certainly get plenty of runs in though lol

That weekend near cost us £5k !

Mates van got broken into at the hotel in Milton Keynes, and the scummy bastards stole about £3k worth of tools ( Mostly Snap On ). Luckily cars not touched though.

I've just been on Santa pod website and had a look and it's all changed since I last looked on there

They do performance rwyb days now for race only tyres and £60 a day, same 100 cars a day limit though but hopefully being £60 instead of £35 for normal rwyb it might be a bit quieter

The last time I was at Pod was one of the supposedly 100 car test days. But as I mentioned before....as there was also a race weekend on for the Sat/Sun and the Friday was supposed to be an exclusive test day for those 100 cars...well, it didnt quite go as expected.

All the test/tune cars were crammed into one small section of the paddock...where basically nobody had any room. Yes we had good access to the fire up lane, and queues were remarkably small, often barely even past the pedestrian crossing.
Despite this, I think I still only got around 4-5 runs the entire day, and a friend was the same. And weather was good all day.

Why things ran so slowly I've no idea, as there just didnt seem to be any reason for it. Overall...what should have been a great exclusive day with a load of track time...just wasnt. All crammed into this area, and when virtually every one there was a car and a trailer....it was jam packed.

I think all of those Friday deals....will be before an actual race weekend anyway. It makes sense for them to do that really. I just hadnt expected those exclusive spots...to get you kicked into the corner lol

Oddly a friend I know was at USC and he goes most years....and he got damn near 20 runs or so in a day. How the fuck he gets that I've no idea.

But there must be some days where you can actually get good track time. I still need to find them lol

It needs a day where there all show ponies there so the parks are full of show stuff and the tracks empty, maybe that ASC car show is like that

I don't really do car shows tbh but if the tracks gonna be quiet maybe I should go for track time

I was at they central Ford day about 10 years ago with a friend and it was like that. I'd never seen the paddock area etc busier, you could barely move. And the track was nearly empty all day, he got a load of runs.
It was the quietest I'd ever seen the track lol.

Around £3k sounds about right mate I was in contact with them several years ago and willing to put up several hundred myself to the kitty which was alot of money to me at the time aswell, but couldn't get anyone to do it so scrapped the idea and just did rwyb

Pisses me off though queing for 5 hours to do one run, can't go for wander about as gotta sit in que

Yep unfortunately they have the ace up their sleeve ,being the only descent track now open, was great in the old days as you used to que up down the side of the track and do a u turn under the gantry,a bit like long marsden or shakesphere as you probably know it,at least you could watch while waiting but I suppose it’s health and safety and insurance that stopped it

I don't have Dyno plot of previous spec but it was jm1300r and ran a 9.9 @ 154 mph on r888s at totb, and then ran a 9.7 @ 161 mph with a 1.7 60 ft on 18" rims with drag radial on it

By my plot I got from rips 160 mph at 1800 kg is 1250 hp, and 154 mph at 1800 kg is 1100 whp

Ignoring the time as were looking at proof of power not grip, even the 161 mph it's done in precious spec proves I believe previous spec was actually above 1300 crank hp at 1800 kg

It now has about 300 hp more but the turbos are huge so I don't know how it's going to affect the launch, I will make sure I have my vbox in the car for any runs I do so I can analyse the data as that should show me any dips in mph Vs time

Buzz pattar at jm1700r spec has run an 8.3 @ 171 mph but that was with rear slicks on 18" rims, I'd imagine they were bias plys aswell as the car gets out of shape through the run and the driver said he did lift at one point !

Jurgen said mine should do about 1700 hp if we run 45 psi of boost on e100 but I said na it's ok 1560 will suffice for now lol

I'd have no issue paying £100, or even £200 or so if I knew I could be guaranteed good track time.

It's too much of a trip for me, and too expensive...to get there to sit and queue all fucking day and only get 2-3 runs. It isnt value for money, it isnt fun. And is largely what stopped me going there for so long

@ £200 each it would only need 20 of us pal to rent the place for the day, heck id pay for 3 spots so we would only need another 16
